Trying A New Os , But It Cannot See Any Partitions

Featured Replies

I though I would try out a few different OS, on my PC.( running Wxp ) on an existing spare partition which is formatted as NTFS , ( was planning to use a dual boot ) but '' EVERY '' new OS, I try when it comes to the part asking where I want to install the OS to, ( which partition ) the new OS I am trying to install does not recognise '' ANY '' or see any partition or Disks on my PC . Any one have an Idea whats going on .. ?

Can you view the "lost" partition when you have fired up windows? My computer - right click - Manage - Disk Management.

Hi, Yes I can see all the existing partitions on the PC, I think I recall some one with this same problem,

and I think it had to do with '' enabling '' some thing, but not too sure..?

Thanks

Ive think it was some thing called .. AHCI ?

In my experience behaving like your little friend in the pic doesn't help LOL

Something like this requires some frontend information.

What are the spec of the PC, drive sizes, number, type and size of partitions.

What OS is Primary (winXP i guess)

What OS are you going to try and method of install you want.  dual boot with grub menu there are others as well

You may find tring OS's works pretty well from Vertual modes like virtualbox from sun and VMware by another,  then you can run the os like an app on the desktop.

Boot with any live Linux OS disc - it will reveal all
