At the start of our relationship we both knew that we were going to have a hard time initially, and we shed many tears on both sides. (I still have the scars from when I smashed up my apartment after the full details of her past emerged). Imagine how I felt when I met one of her previous customers? But you cannot change the past, and she was also very upset about some of my past exploits!

It would be very easy for me to walk away from this relationship and find a 'better' woman, but that is the action of a coward. We both want our relationship to work!.

Now, I have accepted her past (and she mine), and we think about the future together, rather than dwelling on the past.

Buried deep in some of these bars there are real diamonds, (maybe one or two...), but you have to search long and hard, and the path is very painful

LaoPo, you are right to make your comments because in 99.99999% of farang-BG relationsips, that is exactly what happens etc. The relationship is often very shallow, and the guy is living 10,000 km away! Probably both partners have a completely different agenda! (Guy sends money to his 'girlfriend' and tells her to stay alone in her room and not go out, girl is totally cynical about the guy and is trying to milk him for all he is worth!)

I hope our relationship is very different to the above! I think it is! When I travelled to the UK at Xmas, my wife was taken to hospital 2 times in 2 days after she fainted because she missed me so much!

And she is usually the one to give money to me after I forget to send funds from the UK to buy food!!

But getting back on topic, I started this thread because I was very surprised that 100% of my 'sample' were still playing around. Maybe I am too old-fashioned, but I was hoping to find one loyal girl in this sample. But I'm sure that most of the 'BFs' are also playing around!

I spoke with my wife about this and she said (probably quite correctly), that the vast majority of guys who go to bars are complete wa**kers, and who have no clue at all about honesty, sincerity, loyalty etc. So the girls in the bar treat them as such.

My wife tells me that she is very, very lucky to have met me, presumably because I am very handsome, rich etc etc :D. I counter that by telling her that it is me who is very lucky to have met such a sincere and loyal lady!!

I don't see why these girls should be loyal, theres no promise from these guys bar what they tell them before buggering off to their own countries & they don't do anything to make the relationship work except send money. I say good for the girls if they can get a bit of their retirement fund stocked up from these blokes & if the guy does end up coming back & whisking her off her feet then great, they can start building a proper relationship then but whilst he's off in another country then she doesn't owe him anything as he may cut her off or never come back & she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. These girls in Simon43's poll are the smart ones IMO, they are playing the odds of at least 80% of the guys losing interest at some future date & the girs will be a few years older, less desirable to guys going to bars, so they hustle until they know they have a sure thing

I think she is right.

Also I feel that there is a big difference what anyone is up to.

Indeed a vast majority of the single Western 'Farangs' come to TH because it's 'easy' to find a bedpartner, attractive, young, sexy etc.

A partner they would NEVER find in their own country, because they'r too old, ugly and without honesty, sincerity etc.

I call that simple sextourism and I don't want to judge about that. It's up to the 2 parties...BG's and the Farang; both benefit I would say.

Secondly you have the more serious men who really want to find a sincere and kind Lady whereever in the World; if you find such a diamond you'r lucky but it's like finding a needle in a haystack if you try that in TH....but not impossible.

No! But she is not physically very strong (weighs 33 kg), and has glandular fever (doctor's diagnosis!). So when she starts to miss me she gets more and more anxious and tired... and voila!, she faints... At least she is getting the most out of her 30 baht health scheme

I have advised her that the cure is regular sex! (which I suppose she is used to )

Anyway, if our wonderful friends at the British Embassy have not got out of the wrong side of the bed, they may be in the mood to give her a Visitor's Visa so she can come with me when I visit the UK every month... (but I think this embassy lot generally take a very dim view of any BG or ex-BG...)

Will you stop repeating that same old used line, it's tedious. I think your'll find if you know anything about Thailand that girls that work in the prostitution business here often do so not because they are lazy and greedy etc. but because there is little oppurtunites and they have families to support in the poor parts of Thailand.

By the way, my gf has never worked in the industry, and the reason I am defending Simon43s wife is because I am open minded which is something you should consider in future before attacking someones wife, there is no need for it. I imagine you must have a particular hang up caused by previous experience?

I think your'll find with a bit of research into the subject from expats that live here and on this forum that many of them have long and happy relationships with there wives and gfs that used to work in the trade.

Perhaps you could stop tarring every prostitute in Thailand with the same brush, and stop coming into any thread making derogatory comments on people's wives without knowing in person either of the parties involved.
