June 18, 200917 yr I will be going there this weekend and would appreciate any recommendations. Any pleasant location in the vicinity will be fine - I will have my car. Wireless internet would be nice but not essential. Most of the time I'll be out of the place - driving, exploring, etc.

There is a dam with a nice lake and restraunts quite close to Song, can't recall the name but should be easy to find on a map, no more than 10-15 mins drive. Also some senic spots along the river near the town. Should be several accomodation choices in Phrae but I don't have any recommendations. Have fun.
June 19, 200917 yr Try 'Mayom Palace' Stayed there last month with a Thai tour (members of Royal Thai Automobil Association). It was a modern lovely 4 **** hotel, has a pool and internet, good breakfast, dinner was so-so. Sorry have no idea about the price, don't think it's overprice, saw most gruests were Thai students on a field trip, provincial officers.
April 28, 201016 yr @Paagai, the dam is called "Kaeng Sua Ten" @Tinkelbell, Maeyom Palace cost about 900 Baht but there are different prices if you want better rooms
