living in BKK i look for a place to go on week-end but don't want to go pattaya, hua-hin etc...

i have a look on goggle map and find Hat Chao Samran witch look nice and close to BKK (as i travel with 2 kids and don't want to spend more than 2 hours in tranport).

Do you have any informations about this place (hotel, food, how to go there,etc...) ?

thank

Been there many times.

You might find you are the only farang there. Plenty of accommodation aimed at the Bangkok Thai weekend market so "resorts" with bungalows for 4+ people most priced in the 1000 Baht range. For a long weekend you might like to book ahead. No problem with restaurants - too many of 'em.

Very easy to get to. It's about 15 km from Phetburi City. Just head for the sea. 2 hours is optimistic. You would need to drive very fast on Phetkasem Highway which is a dangerous road. Allow 2.5 hours.

Thank you for your answer, it seems to be what i'm looking for cause i'm tired to go always to the same places.

May i ask you if you have some information about where i can book ahead or as you been there many times where do you advise me to stay cause internet is not very helpfull (or i look in the wrong place :) ).

Anyway bungalows in the 1000 baht range are fine for me anf i have to book ahead cause with 2 babies and a thai wife who don't like to walk it's a 'must' but i don't want to make a mistake in my booking.

thank you

Not sure I can help you. I'm single so I've always been there on my own or sometimes with a girlfriend. I/We always stayed in Phetburi City at Rabiang Guest House but this is definitely not what you're looking for @ 150 Baht a night.

There's a whole spate of resorts on the northern end of the beach with more being opened every year. I don't have e-mail addresses I'm afraid. Try phoning the Cha-Am TAT on 032 471005. They should be able to give you phone numbers.

Or just turn up early and ask from door to door at the resorts. They're all within one kilometre of each other.
