Kuala Lumpur Or Laos Best For Non Imm 0 ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have to travel out of the country this coming week to apply for a non imm 0 on the basis that my wife works in Thailand as a teacher and my children are at school here.

I finally - (after an abortive trip to Bangkok) - seem to have the correct paper work, but I'd really appreciate any input from recent visa appliers regarding the best place to go to.

I've heard good things about KL and also Laos and have also heard that there are currently some cheap fares to KL - (I am in Chiang Mai).

I just thought someone might have some up to date info' re: the most 'visa friendly' location at the moment.

Many thanks in advance,

Phil.

KL for sure...

I've had 2 Multi Entry "O" visas from there...

I'm heading back for a 3rd in a few months.

Fly AirAsia and take their Red bus into town.. cheapest way to get to KL from Airport... It's an hour drive, so Taxis will be very expensive.

You can save money by buying the bus tickets when you book your tickets.

Plus it's a great town... major change from Bangkok... almost like Singapore, but much cheaper.

Great food, shopping and Easy to get around.

Air's is clean, sidewalks are wide and clear, No bad smells to catch you by surprise... and EVERYBODY speaks English.

Only thing that causes problems are the Taxis... They may be worse then here.. just make sure that they turn on the meter.

And don't wander alone down dark alleys... otherwise great place.

Either one is good for a single entry non-o.

Many Many thanks CS - it sounds like the way to go - just wondered if I could push my luck and ask you if you know of any clean, inexpensive hotels not too far from the Consulate ?

Again - many thanks,

Regards,

Phil.

Sorry, off-line yesterday.

As I look at these Visa runs as a mini vacation from Thailand, I generaly stay in a 4* hotel....(About 2,500 baht/night all in) It's only a few nights (min 2) and worth it for me. I have enough of living on a Teacher's budget in Bangkok... So I stay in a nice hotel near the main shopping area... (I think it something like "Bintan Bitik" area) Just near the Imbi monorail station, across from Times Square (which has the largest "Borders" book shop in Asia)... so I don't really know any really cheap places near the Embassy... A taxi from where I stay isn't that expensive.

You can find tons of places on Line.. just spend a few minutes on Google.... The cheapest places are near Chinatown or Little India areas, I think.

Enjoy your trip!
