Software To Rip Audio Only From Dvd

Featured Replies

I've got a lot of nice music dvd's and would like to get the audio down on some cd's to listen to while driving.  Is there any good free software out there to rip the audio portion from a dvd and what format would the audio actually be in normally?

Windows Media Player has it built in.

Tywais - I think he wants to rip audio from DVDs, not CDs. Use DVD Decrypter to rip the audio to AC3, then use something like MediaMonkey or Winamp to convert to MP3.

Edit: Just noticed you want CDs, so convert to WAV and burn to CD

I just thought about that after I posted. Bit to quick on the trigger. :)

Yes. AoA Audio extractor.

Here

I use it all the time. It is freeware and works very well.

Made many MP3's and music C.D's for use in cars.

Not free to rip from DVDs

Sorry,

All my music DVD's and Video music clips downloaded from the net are stored an external hard disk.

I then rip the audio using the AoA freeware.

No love from the dvd-mp3.org software as I get a message that it can't get the audio from it from source file VTS_01_1.VOB.  This is where the audio and video are both stored.  I get an error message saying I need the right codecs, but the software never says which codecs are needed.

The FAQ on the site suggests K-Lite Codec Pack which is one of the most popular packs and one I use.

Thanks for  the help. Got both of the first two mentioned programs installed, found that codec pack, and have now got everything up and running :).
