Bangkok For A Day With Kids

Featured Replies

I need an itinerary and have no idea where to start. I have 3 kids - 3,7 and 16 years, start at Suvarnabhumi Intl at 07h45 and have to end up at Hua Lamphong station with luggage @ 19h10. If someone could help me plan this I would be most grateful - I would like us to see the Palace and go on the Canal if possible. Thanks A.

I would book a -reliable- hotel for 1/2 day or so with 2 double beds so that you can leave your luggage, have nice showers, a good breakfast next door and than book a Khlong-boat tour, see the small Zoo along the way. Make sure you bring enough bottles of water and something to bite, maybe fresh fruit or so.

If you have time have a short walk in the palace area and...Voila...your day is almost over but the kids will love it !

Good luck

In such a short time, I think the key is to keep it simple.

10:00-12:00 -- Wat Phra Keow and the Royal Palace.

12:00-2:00 -- Wat Po (it's a huge temple, quite interesting, includes the Reclining Buddha...and it's right next door to Wat Phra Keow).

2:00-4:00 -- Take the ferry across the river to Wat Arun.

4:00-5:00 -- Take the river taxi up the river for about 30 minutes, then get off and hop on the river taxi back south. Get off at either Thien Pier or Saphan Phut Pier (either of which should be fairly easy to get a taxi to Hua Lamphong).

The big problem -- what are you going to do with that luggage?

Lao Po This is great advice, thank you - I didn't know you could rent by the half day. Which sites should I search for a "reliable hotel"? I guess it would need to be somewhere near the station. A.

Thanks Phetaroi this gives me a good idea of the time frame I will need and exactly where to get the ferries and taxis. Perhaps I could check in to a hotel and then do Wat Phra Keow - funny I thought the new airport would have shower facilities - but obviously not? (someone said before it had a golf course - but I guess that was a joke it there are no showers!)
