There are 2 fast-ish bus routes to Kanchanaburi. You can go from the Northern Bus Terminal (pronunciation: Bor Khor Sor "More Shit") or from the Southern Bus Terminal (Bor Khor Sor "Sigh Die My").

There are also very fast minivans from the Northern Bus Terminal (minivan= "rot do")

An express bus in Thai is "First Class". They will probably understand this in English. In Thai ป. 1 (pronunciation "Bore Nung").

A taxi to the Northern Bus Terminal from Suwannaphum will be about 350 Baht including tolls whilst the Southern Bus Terminal may cost you 450 Baht.

It's definitely worth checking if there are direct vans to Kanjanaburi from the AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION CENTRE. If there are this would save you a lot of time, money and hassle.
