Such distinctive markings, but no luck. I have researched the books, web and forums but cannot get a conclusive ID. Can anyone identify this snake? About 1.5 meters long.

An 'Elegant Bronzeback' according to my book.

What a handsome fellow :)

Op: Agreed everything points to a Bronzeback. The only description (book) I have is for the Painted Bronzeback describes a distinctive black edged cream band that extends all along the length to the jaw.

This snake (pics), the band/line stops 5-6" before the jaw. A web search for the 'Painted' shows the same.

The Elegant Bronzeback does not have this 'line' at all from what I see.

Guess it's a Painted Bronzeback.

Thanks for the responses. Any yes, he is a fine looking snake.

nice captures.

it is nice to see a snake on TV that hasn't been bludgeoned with a golf club.

Snakes. Being from Ireland I've never had to deal with them myself, until I came to Thailand and they're everywhere.

Here is a picture of my [deceased] cat that I took one morning

Seems like he was one for killing snakes. Noted around the estate for killing various snakes at neighbours houses.

Apparently he picked on something a bit bigger two weeks ago. One Saturday morning our nanny found him dead. He was covered in some kind of sticky gooey stuff that suggested he had been swallowed and regurgitated by a big snake (and our cat was quite big!). Don't know what kind of snake could have swallowed him. Ah well, that's karma for you I guess.

Yep, every one likes before and after photos.
