Drew Aitch
Hi folks, wonder if anyone can help with these couple of quick questions? 1. Got friends over at the moment and they are looking for a nice car a pleasant driver for the day, or half a day. They are elderly and so do not want to be sitting in the back of a songthaew or tutk tuk. Any recommendations please? 2. Does anyone know the name and locations of the furniture village on the outskirts of CM? Thanks in advance Aitch
iainiain101
Ban Tawaii for furniture, head to Hang Dong and turn left. Some drivers with vehicles advertise on Citylife http://www.chiangmainews.com/classifieds_job/ Cant vouch for any of them though. Iain

Drew Aitch
Ok, all done and dusted now. That was very quick an efficient Just for reference, there's a lady driver advertised on Citylife who apparently speaks English and Japanese. She drives a Toyota VIOSU whatever that it? Some people might like the idea of a female driver, while the mere thought of it might frighten the living daylights out of many a sober man Cheers Aitch

harrry
Those big airconditioned commuter vans go for about 1900 baht a day including driver a few hundred more for an English speaking guide plus fuel. Contact orth wheels or just ask any of the drivers for a phone number or get one off the back of many of them.

seesip
I hired Nirut Van on several trips to Mae Sai/Mae Hong Son/Chiang Rai. Nirut is a safe driver, very nice, and offered some suggestions for side trips along the way that turned out to be some of the best parts of the trip (i.e. no tourist traps with hidden pricing). The van is new and well maintained, I think it seats 10? Highly recommended. mobile: 089-856-4511 mobile: 081-672-0750 I would ask for him specifically, I think he works with several drivers/vans, but I prefer him. Drew Aitch
Let us know how it works out. Usefull for friends visits Ok, i thought i would just report back on the car and chauffeur. These folks got the number of a local chap who goes by the name of Injan. They don't remember the car exactly, but I think it was a Toyota about 10 yeas old. However, they said it was lovely and clean throughout and ran nicely. The driver was not fluent in English but certainly had enough command of the language to communicate with the visitors who didn't speak a word of Thai. He was polite and courteous at all times and took them to all the places they wanted to go. He made no suggestions (unless asked), of other places to visit and didn't slip in any cheeky detours to mates factories or shops along the way. Because it was raining all day, he escorted the visitors from car to buildings each time by holding a umbrella over their heads. Time was 10:00 - 19:00 Cost: 800 Baht (including fuel) Destination: Furniture villages, umbrella factory, nice Thai restaurant somewhere in the hills, and a couple of other places. Name: Injan Mobile: 0869 136 850 Tip: 200 Baht (optional of course) Aitch
