Thavisa Launching A New Blog Portal

Hi all,

We are getting ready to launch a new blog portal for expats and Thais living in Thailand. We will also accept regular travelers to Thailand, as long as the writing will be related to Thailand.

We are now finalizing the technical part of the service and need a few ”betatesters” to work out any remaining bugs.

If you consider to start your own blog, or perhaps already blogging today, please feel free to send me a PM and I will send you details on how to set up your free blog with Thaivisa. I am sure a lot of you have funny or exciting stories to share living or traveling to Thailand.

Note: This new service will replace the current blog system on Thaivisa. All existing blogs will gradually be moved to our new blog portal.

Some of the benefits by using our new blog portal.

- Great exposure and an increased amount of readers on your blog.

- Based on Wordpress, the leading platform for bloggers.

- Great selection of designs and templates to choose from.

- Local support and help with your blog.

- Localized language versions of the software.

- Completely FREE (premium programs available).

The final version of our blog portal is scheduled to open up in about a week from now.

Daring betatesters are welcome to send me a PM for further instructions.

Cheers,

Blogmaster Flash

Mr. Souza

Thanks Mr Souza. :D

I have started a new blog which you have kindly set up on the new system.

Anyone interested in Mobi's ramblings can find it on:

http://mobi.thailand.nu/

Hopefully, I will no longer be put in detention by going "Off Topic" :D

All comments gratefully received. :)

Great Mobi, thanks for sharing your personal experiences in your blog. Best of luck with your struggle. Godspeed.

A blog is great way of ventilating issues that might not be appropriate on this forum. We will however monitor certain sensitive subjects, of course.

We need more testers, so come on ya'll and send me a PM if you're interested to become the next Pulitzer Prize-winner. :D

Since you need testers, I'm assuming you welcome feedback.

I just tried the link to Mobi's blog. The page loaded (I briefly saw the colours, photos and began readin his intro), the got an IE error and the page could not be found.

On Thaivisa you control outbound links. In blogging linking to other blogs, sites and articles is part of the key value of a blog. Is your blog policy going to be to restrict the links a blog owner can put in their blog?

Sure, the more feedback the better. I haven't seen that problem though. What version of IE are you using? IE6 is not supported as it is an obsolete browser. If you are usng IE7 or higher, please let me know the error message you got. Thanks.

In general, you can link as much as you want. The only restrictions we will have comes down to common sense. We will restrict posts and links referring to the following:

- Criticism of members of the Thai Royal Family.

- Pornography and/or offending language.

- Defamation, libel and slander.

- Racist remarks towards any ethnic group or race.

- Spam or link aggregation.

As opposed to Thaivisa forum, you are free to promote your own business and link to it as much as you want, as long as it is not pure spam or in competition with TV, of course. :)

Actually, if are you running a business in Thailand, this is a great way of promoting it. By writing about your experiences in Thailand you can attract more customers. We will not allow pure adverts that does not contain editorial material, besides nobody would really be interested in reading that anyway.

But if you are running a restaurant for example, why not start a blog sharing your experiences on how to live and work in Thailand. That is an excellent way of connecting with your existing and potential customers. I've learned that people living abroad are always keen on reading life stories from Thailand, as many of them consider moving here eventually.

Given the censorial ethos of ThaiVisa, surely it is the last place I would consider either blogging on or even looking at the blogs on offer.

ThaiVisa is a great place for information but not for opinion

I suggest you read the interview with George as to why Thaivisa has to be so restrictive when comes to certain "opinions" on this board.

IE7

I tried again...the window began to open...I could see the olive green background etc, but the error occurred again

"IE can not open the internet site http://mobi.thailand.nu/...... Operation aborted"

I have not seen this error message for years....my system is ok.

Interesting. I wasn't trying to say ThaiVisa should be anything different to what it is, but just that the same environment does not appeal to me much as a place to either read or write blogs.

My friend has told me that he has tried 10 times to click onto my blog but keeps getting the message:

"Internet Explorer cannot open the website, operation aborted"

I'm not sure which version of IE he is using, but will ask and let you know.

Maybe there are many out there who are still using IE6, and you should consider including this browser.

Hi,

Please ask your friend to try again, I cleaned up some code. Let me know if it works now.

IE6 will not be supported in any case, but IE7 and later will be. IE6 poses several serious security risks as well.

Thanks,

To the one or two remaining fans who are still waiting with baited breath, I can report that I started blogging again on 15th September, after a break of 54 days.

Sorry about the break in service, which was due to a number of factors. :)

I will make every effort to blog at least 3-4 times a week from now on.

You may (or may not) find my musings interesting - especially those amongst you who have an over fondness for booze. :D

As ever, comments are welcome.

ThaiVisa have informed me that they will no longer be supporting their Blog Portal, as I am am the only one who has taken up their offer of writing a daily blog.

They had a whole department running just for Mobi's blog!! :)

As a result, I have moved my Blog to WordPress, and have also registered my own, new domain name which is:

mobithailand.com

So for all my few remaining fans out there, you now need to log into the above link to continue to read the life and times of alcoholic Mobi. All my archive blogs, including comments, are available on the new site.

(Once the Thai Visa portal is discontinued, I think if you log into my old website (mobi.thailand.nu), you will be re-directed to the new site, but I am unsure how long this will continue.)
