If you meet the requirements with your Embassy letter that should be all that is required. You should have bank book available (especially if marriage extension) and ATM receipts but bank letter should not be needed.

Except for Nong Khai immigration. For my one year extension back in April I was required to submit a letter from the bank along with copies of savings passbook. This was in addition to the embassy letter and other required documents.

.....and you can add Kapcheong Immigration to the list as well.

I did my extension late last month and asked before hand what was required this time around.

All the usual stuff plus as listed above by tutone.

It is an on/off thing to be sure money is actually coming in for "support Thai wife" extension. For those that did not have bank account proof they sometimes accepted ATM receipts (as it was a local request rather than a requirement). The poster mentioned only having them so advised he have with him just in case.

Thanks for clearing that up. Some years ago I was hassled at Suan Plu because I used ATMs instead of wire transfers or other means, but got it sorted out, and have had no problems since, and no requests for ATM slips, which is why I asked.

Unless you have a valid multi entry non immigrant OA (retirement) you only receive a 90 day stay on entry - but if you have been on a one year stay and have the OA visa a return before it expires provides another one year stay (but travel after return would require re-entry permit). You did not mention what you have.

I am really confused by the above. Are you saying that if you exit the country before your 1 year retirement visa is up, when you re-enter you automatically get another year at the border?? Don't you always have to renew as in show all the documents, $, do the medical etc etc?

It depends on the visa you have. A visa is a permission to travel to Thailand and upon entry you get a permission to stay. In the case of an O-A visa that is for 1 year, in the case of a non-O 90 days.

A visa can be single or multiple. With a single you can only travel once to Thailand and with a multiple an unlimited times, as long as the visa is still valid. So each time you travel to Thailand you would get a new permission to stay for 1 year, if you have a multiple O-A visa.

By leaving and re-entering Thailand just before the visa itself expires you would get a new 1 year permission to stay.
