Fuel Shortfall

Featured Replies

Whenever I use the airport filling station I seem to get less fuel than other similarly priced filling stations.

For 1000 Baht I get just over half a tank but at all the others I get about three quarters of a tank. It seems to be fairly

consistent, Anyone else noticed this?? :)

Well, it seems obvious that they are more expensive per liter, and maybe they mess with the pumps as well to give you less than a liter etc ??

here in Switerland we could have this effect, due of our climate.

You know, if the temperature is cold you get less petrol/gasoline/ulead fuel

..but if hte temperature is hot..you get more fuel (chemical effect)....

..but I assume it's not your case...hehe...

Check the price before you fill, thats a scamstation because 1 liter gasoline is 39 baht...........

yes, avoid it at all cost, since a year and half, i never buy gasoline from this station.

as competitors are good for prices, i prefer to buy gasoline at caltex(texaco) in chaweng.

Passing by that petrol station since it opened almost every day, I can't remember even once to see a car there - motorbikes yes, because it is the nearest petrol station in that area coming from Ban Rak and it's slightly cheaper than the "private barrel petrol stations" there.

You got this backwards eh?

Chemical effect? Heated liquid expands, takes up a bigger volume of space therefore you get less for your litre in a hot climate. The only liquid that expands as it cools is water & that's only at freezing point :)

Double this... You think the fuel companies are stupid enough to ignore this effect?

The pumps are supposed to compensate for temperature variations in the dispensed fuel. Also keep in mind that the fuel in the below ground is usually a lot cooler than the air temp during the daytime.

Somehow I don't think that there is too much fuel temperature difference between the pumps at the airport and those in Chaweng and Lamai. :)

G, your motorbike must have an awesomely big gas tank!

Nah, it's the truck that costs an arm and a leg to fill.

Many many stations do it all over Thailand if you just sit in the car and dont pay attention. I always get out and stand next to the pump attendant and it is always zeroed before starting to pump. Its the only way mate !!!!!

HL :)

I always fill up my plane ar surat airport. Samui is way to expensive.

Just as well 'cos you can't get Aviation Gasoline at Samui anyway. :)

I know, they wanted to tank my jet with, 95 gas,.

I just said no gasohol in my jet. :)

I can explain to you many things...because of my Exxon experience. So I do analysis in this way....

The Companies that work in countries like Switzerland make a month compensation..compairing the invoiced fuel liters and the actual stock variances (15 degrees, standart temperatures for make the bill to the Gas-station).

Sure that now you can understand a bit more...

Theoric I agree. But it depend on the location of the Station (i.ex. we have a Gas Station in S.Bernardino-Switzerland that low the stock temperature to an average of 6 degrees: we make particular compensations for them...).

you right, absolutely.....usually the Oil Companies fill the stocks of the Stations..outputting the fuel at 16.5 degrees in Thailand (according my exxon table).

thanks to BKK Air...
