I haven't had the chance to go shooting specifically so here's another photo I took a couple months ago.

Canon 450D, 55/250 Canon lens at 250mm, F/8 1/25th and ISO200.

I'll see if this weekend I get the chance to shoot some critter in the country side for my third entry picture.

Hi monkfish, nice pic. Did you use a tripod or hand-held?

Hi katana, the shot was hand held as these critters move fast.

To shoot I would follow them then as soon as they stooped snap.

Used a Nikor 105mm VR lens with image stabilizer which helped.

Also a flash from behind to light em up.

Out of 100 shots 5 were usable the rest i just deleted.

Yeah, I recently got a macro lens but not had too much luck with hand-held shots - too much camera shake.

Still learning how to get the best out of it. Time to read the manual methinks...

If your not already try using a flash of some kind, ring flash is usually best for macro shots

although i don't have one myself :)

Failing that also try increasing your iso settings (this will shorten the shutter speed) try iso 800 or even higher may be 3200 depending on how shaky you are.
