February 22, 200521 yr Hi all, I'm a new member and I realise that this topic may have been posted in the past, but... I'm currently engaged to marry later on in the year here in Thailand, and she is looking to purchase land in her name. I was wondering if we register our marriage will it effect either of our rights living here in the kingdom (e.g land ownership mine and hers, my visa rights, etc...)? Cheers
February 22, 200521 yr She will have to sign paper that the money used to buy land is hers alone and you will have to agree your understanding that you have no rights to that land. Other than that she can still buy what she wants You can obtain non immigrant O type visa after marriage showing marriage certificate and copy of her id card. That would allow up to 90 day stays. If you can prove support and marriage with 400k in local bank account/income you may be able to extend visa inside Thailand on a yearly basis.
February 22, 200521 yr Author Many thanks for that Lopburi!! Might as well register then. Weren't too sure whether or not it was a good idea before (hear a lot of rumours about land ownership and stuff). thanks again
