I was never asked for anything "extra" in Sri Racha, over a period of many years.

I could download the full poster (in 3 languages) if you like, but would be difficult to make it fit a lapel pin.

How about a Thai Visa T Shirt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I would love to have a photo of the full poster. I think I will start an album of immigration–related curiosities with it.

Paying tea money is not required for normal activity; and has not been for many years. In 40 years I have never paid such fees - even when they were common. That was what was different here and other countries - the task would be done here without payment but might take a little longer (although in most cases it did not) - in other countries it just was not done without lubrication. We are not talking business; as you seem to be.

Suspect that any such payments make you the apparent offender in any legal action that might come up in the future - not a good game plan

Excellent post from lopburi3 to which I very much agree.

Having seen how some farangs offer tea money to the Immigration without any reason at all I am not too surprised the staff at some Immigration offices take this as an excuse to try to get more from other “customers”. I hear people bragging about what they paid and the good service they got in return not realising what I think about them and their actions.

I never pay anything extra as I find it not only wrong but also a waste of money. During the years I have noticed a few times the officer have tried to make me understand they want some money but after I politely just change topic their request seems to be “forgotten” by them and I receive the service I am entitled to. No way however I would tell them straight on as it is not in my interest to have them loose face.

Have just a couple of hours ago, returned to Loei from the ThaLi Immigration Office.

Needed a Multiple Re-Entry which I stupidly did not get at extension time last March.

Wonderful experience, all the staff there very pleasant, many jokes being cracked in good fun, all in all nothing to complain about whatsoever and no hint of any of the concerns that this thread raises.

Infact about 5 minutes after we left, my TW's mobile rang and the female officer who processed my permit, asked if we were close, could we pop back and help her understand an English guy who was having difficulty explaining what he wanted in regard to a visa.

Again much light-hearted fun.

Maybe news here, not sure, but we were told that many Isaan foreigners will soon not have to travel this far and will be able to use a new office in Khon Kaen!

Another interesting point, the single Re-Entry Permit in my Passport had not been cancelled with a "USED" stamp by BKK Airport Immigration a few days back and at first the officer at ThaLi pointed out that I still had a valid entry. After I explained that I had indeed used it she cancelled it herself and thanked me!
