Very apt :o

When I go to Bkk I sometimes take the bus which doesn't stop near Ladprao for some reason, which would be better, esp on a Friday afternoon.

Moreshit is not even near the moreshit underground station. They could have built it a bit nearer than the 1 km or so which is not on when carrying a big bag. 30 baht on a bike. Waste of time building a station there, Chatuchak is good enough.

I have had lots of shit at moreshit in my time in Thailand.

Nakkonchai air bus company esp. they often change their buses to 'moreshit 2' and don't tell anyone at 'moreshit 1'

There also a Penistone near Barnsley which the unsporting Yorkshire fools pronounce 'Pennyston'
cant let a slur on the good folk of yorkshire go unanswered.......

so , from a penistone school website , some facts about the area.

The Best Things

Lots of lovely walks all around Penistone, the old railway line is now a walking / cycle track, which is now part of the Pennine Trail.

Chippy Jeff's - not the sponser of Sheffield Wednesday! (that's Chupa Chups)

its a lovey town and fast growing the town is full of history and the locols are all frindley and kind to help you in any way.

The fact that locals are oblivious to the fact that they live in a town with 'Penis' in the title - Penistone, which incidentally is on the same railway line as WOMBwell - sexually depraved tyke trainspotters and all.

The wide range of chippies. And pubs. It's got some good history such as the great big viaduct collapsing with a train on disaster type thing.

The White Hart on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Penistone people are a bit scatty in a Yorkshire sort of way but generally OK and friendly. Everybody knows everybody.

The Worst Things

Bored (and illiterate) kids smash up the railway station waiting room windows and leave rubbish all over. Yet more dogmuck on the pavements.

Dog muck all over. Local kids have a lot of trouble reading, writing and spelling properly.

the goddamn public transport, tell me why does it take 45mins to get to sheffield, a mere 15miles away on the train???

wether near christmas as you can soon grt cut off by snow

Dog poo on the pavements, every ten yards or so, more on sundays.

The town being known as 'penis town' by everyone bar the locals.

People make fun of the name.

the mere mention of the wide range of chippies with names like chippy jeffs , collapsing railway viaducts and people a bit scatty in a yorkshire kind of way brings a lump to my throat.

now thats what i call culture.

One of my ex girlfrinds came from Penistone but she kept calling it pennystone.

I went to visit her folks one weekend (she had gone on a day ahead of me) and spent half an hour in Holmfirth trying to find a bus for 'Pennystone' until this kindly old bloke with tears of mirth in his eyes lead me to the right bus. When I saw it I fell apart and me and this old fellow were in bits!! Very nice town though but sadly like the rest of Yorkshire somewhat bypassed by the 21st century and a sense of humour!

My ex always found Sukothai funny.

I think Lampard is thinking about Cockermouth in Cumbria. There also a Penistone near Barnsley which the unsporting Yorkshire fools pronounce 'Pennyston'

I remembered just as I wrote it,but I thought a bit of fun. There is a Pratts Bottom in Kent though.

Or should I say Platts Brottom to keep it Thai related. :o

I must have heard it being pronounced that many different ways too.

the problem is that it is spelt in Thai with a consonant that acts as a 'double functioning consonant' meaning that it has an ending and a beginning.

The correct way if you read the Thai is Pat taya. Some government officials use ph for this initial consonant to distinguish it from 'bp'.

I would say that it should be spelt in English, 'Pattaya' or maybe 'Phattaya', the rest are wrong. I'm sure knowone really cares!
