Dtac Edge Fallen In The Toilet?

Featured Replies

Anyone notice DTAC's EDGE service has become apallingly slow recently? Cooincidentally, while doing a tracert I noticed that it now exits Thailand via a True gateway:

SG-ICR-ANC1-26-210.trueinternetgateway.com [122.144.26.210]

Any idea what's going on? DTAC EDGE has been a reliable service for years, I hate to think they have handed it over to the numpties at True.

I saw the topic and thought you literally dropped a phone in the toilet. :)

btw... Motorola survived, Nokia didn't. (from personal experience)

Used it yesterday. Solid downloads of 20kB/s. Better than expected. What is your experience?

I've seen the True Gateway portal a while ago but have seen no difference in my DTAC EDGE performance in Chiangmai. Just ran a test to Bangkok and was about 200kbps down 23kbs up, about normal for me. About 187kbps down 42kbps up to Thaivisa server in Singapore. 210kbps down 40kbps up to San Francisco.

Ok its just unlucky me then :)

I haven't done that, but my ex-boss got drunk and fell off a bridge into a fish pond next to our work. If you saw this pond you would probably prefer to fall into a toilet. His phone didn't work afterwards wither (Nokia), fortunately he was not carrying his laptop at the time.

Priceless mental image :)

I don't understand why when someone asks a real question looking for advise that a number of people put up nonsense. Are they bored or what. Why are we forced to have to wade through their nonsense to find real replies? Maybe there needs to be a forum for silliness...they can play there. Or are they just inconsiderate people?

I have Dtac Edge and have noticed a real decline in speed recently...using both Opera and Firefox as browsers. If it continues I may try AIS....

I just got a SIM card wireless modem here in Brunei: 1.7 Mbit/s down and 56 kbit/s up, but that is 3G of course.

I have an AIS netsim which I use in the phone with the laptop whenever I am upcountry.

The service is great, very solid, 20+kbps pretty much all the time. If I ever get a problem, there is a lovely Australian-educated supervisor there called Missy. Whatever they are paying her, it isn't enough. A very welcome anomaly in the pimple that is Thai call centres.

I was using Dtac's edge but changed a week ago because it became a nightmare to use.

It was signal problems for me,just dropping suddenly but was grand before,

Im using Ais now which has been really stable and Im getting 30kb/sec transfer rate

Funny thing was, the week after they (the Department of Fisheries) installed a guard rail on the footbridge. I am tempted to hang a sign on it "The Mr XXX XXX Memorial Guard Rail".

Whilst I fully understand what you're saying, the thread title does invite a little humour :)

So long as it's not excessive or inappropriate an occasional smile never hurt anyone, and the OP has his answers too :D
