one axiom in life is any person who has ever been run over by a bloke who is 200 plus cn, weighing 130kg and fast enough to sprint 40 meteres in 4.4 seconds, never says "grid iron is a sport for pussies." :)

never says "grid iron is a sport for pussies." :)

The UK sprinter Dwayne Chambers who was banned for drug taking was given the opportunity to make a pro career for himself at American football and Rugby despite never playing these sports until he was about 28, for me this shows these sports are just for steroids freaks or people that'll run fast, there is no way on gods earth that someone could become a professional Footballer with only these attributes.

But ive no doubt those 120KG steroid freaks who play Grid Iron are double hard bastards ...... but i bet my balls are bigger then theirs.

Some guy named Martin Johnson who used to play rugby has a very high opinion of "gridiron". Ever hear of him? :)

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12119_4190017,00.html

Martin johnson is a rugby player, a sport played by poncy privately educated people and Yorkshiremen, if American Football was in the slightest bit interesting it would have caught on throughout the world, it hasnt because its crap and you need to take steroids to succeed in it and soccer as you call it is better.

The simple truth is that more children play fotball(soccer) because it takes very little skill.

Closer to the truth is that it is safer for the kids, easier to learn, cost of equipment is minimal (all you need are shorts & t-shirt, shoes, a field, ball, and a couple nets) and boys and girls can both play.

You do not need any equipment at all, no special clothing at all, not even a ball.... All you do need, is something to kick. Preferably, the OP in my opinion.

Troll troll troll yer troll gently.................... :)

Actually, the NFL has very strict rules against steroids and other drugs with frequent testing of players. Now baseball is a disgrace with what they turn a blind eye to.

I'm sure doping is common in football/soccer. Oh, wait, what's this?....

Hidden scandal of drug cheats who shame English football. Some of English football's biggest stars are blatant cheats who are using performance-enhancing drugs to help them play better, according to the game's global anti-doping policeman.

Well, at least the "this is a football forum!" crowd should be happy this thread is finally moving towards football.

I love football. Soccer can be OK if there is nothing else on TV.

I might have some respect for it if it wasn't interrupted every 3 minutes with some guy acting like his leg was torn from the socket when he brushed against the opposing player. These guys are a disgrace to all men in sports. Even figure skaters know how to cowboy up and get on with the game.

You mean those Hulk like men in American football get like that by eating tuna, pasta and a incy bit of Creatine .... come on!

Why do Americans hate football? I played for 5 years before High School and loved it. Once I got to high school I would be called names for playing and always picked on for playing a "woman's sport." I understand why most Americans want to see action and as we all know football has very little action. Unless you count the beauty of missed shots. "Wow! did you see that? He almost made it" so what!!!! He wasn't even close. I understand that football is the #1 sport in the world because anyone can play. You just run down the field in the direction of the ball. Did you know that more than 300 players played in the last two years without even touching the ball. There are no plays, no reason to even have a coach(What the heck does he do anyway,) well besides sober up. We even have a drinking game at our bar... When Christiana Ronaldo falls and starts to cry everyone has to drink. Please tell me one more thing. Why is it that when a team scores they all skip, Kiss, touch each others bums, take their clothes off, lick man sweatlick caress each other and get on their knees for a super sexy slide. Are all the players in the closset if so why not come out and be proud of who you are fans are. If you agree with this please let me know if not go back to listening to your PET SHOP BOYS.

Why do Americans not drink tea?

As my last post of the day, I will give it to you. End game>>>for someone who obviously hates football, what the <removed> are you doing in the football forum.

Have a nice weekend.

I obviously hate football? Really? You might construe from my posts that some English get on my nerves from time to time but I don't think anything I've written shows I hate football. I'll be watching the 2010 World Cup along with most of the world.

I think it is what a person grows up with is what they like. I personally don't understand soccer, and so most of my impressions are of the players acting out an injury in order to get a call against the opponent. To me that always seems whimpy.

I once was told that if a professional American Football Team were placed against a professional Soccer team in a soccer match that the soccer team would win hands down. Granted. But if the same Professional Soccer Team were to play the Professional American Football team in American Football, I would hope they would have plenty of ambulances on hand.

Oh, we drink plenty of it as long as it comes in a big glass with ice & lemon. Places I've lived in the USA if you put cream in your (hot) tea you'll get a funnier look than if you put some whiskey in it. I myself think it's better with cream. But then again, I also like soccer (and women!). :)

I normally hear this sentence followed by "...Plus we kicked your ass in world war II" (said to an Englishman)

No, I personally think the English helped save the world, and one of the most respected men in my circles was Winston Churchill. And I'm American. I'm talking about sports, and I'm not demonizing anyone for the sport they follow. Soccer to most American is simply something they don't understand, simply because they are not exposed to it. It's obvious that it is a great game, just as some feel the same about Cricket, Rugby, Baseball, and so on. But until the game is is exposed more to any populace, then it will continue to be not understood. I grew up and very rarely had seen a soccer ball until I was in college. I played American Football in college, and found that soccer was not something that I cared to spend my energy to understand. Especially since it was never on TV, never talked about, and the World Cup was on the 3rd page of the sports page and only giving minor details about the finals. So most Americans simply don't know the game, but it is growing in popularity in recent years.

I don't hate soccer, but do know the excitement of being a sports fan. I see the great interest in both European Football and American Football, and I think anyone who says they hate either sport is ignorant to the fact that both sports are followed fanatically, and both have their attraction that is nurtured by how you grow up, and by what you are exposed to. I have had many people say they hate American Football, and after talking for awhile I find they know very little about the game. I would venture to say that most Americans who are ignorant in that way also do not know much about soccer.

As to which sport is better? Who cares, as long as you love your sport............

You purport to be a person respectful and enlightened about different sports.

Yet you make comparison between American Football and Soccer based on who would end up in an ambulance, which illustrates your true ignorance.

It's like saying "Stephen Hendry might be able to beat Ken Shamrock at snooker, but Shamrock would smash Hendry's head through the table".... it almost requires one to be clad in a flannel vest, holding a Budweiser to be making such statements.

Good try nomimusic, but the lads will have none of it. You cannot cajole them when it comes to that sport they love so much. They will always use the pretense of sport to knock the U.S. of A. Even throw up some remark about WW2.

I see now that the gay part refers to Football. You're all good lads, but you're skating on very thin ice when you make some remark about Football being gay. Maybe the fact that they wear jock-straps turns them on. Jock-strap. Soccer sucks.

The only reason football/soccer is so popular is because it takes very little skill and anyone can play. Parents don't have to worry about their children getting hurt. They can get good excercise running back and forth basically doing nothing but chasing a ball. I know everyone will be ticked off about this but it truely is a brainless sport that can be taught to monkeys.

Why do the players all look so pretty? I feel gay just watching them.

Posted

Why are their shorts so short and tight?

Why do they always take their shirts off a hug each other ever so gently?

Why are they so happy about missed shots?

Why do they all act so feminine?

Why does Christian Ronaldo wear so much make-up?

Why does he always cry when he falls?

Posted
...... NEED I SAY MORE??????

Please don't.

Just because you like football doesn't mean you are gay. Just because Christian Ronado wears make-up doesn't mean he's gay either. So back off!!! If these football fans want to remain in the closet that's their choice. They are not hurting anyone. I happen to like football but I also enjoy watching Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Your member status sums you up quite nicely. I really don't know why you bother coming into the football forum, must be some kind of attention seeking behaviour. Rather pathetic, as per usual. :)

Well its seems that some people can't help themselves. I believe that this thread has now run it's course. Do not start another one in a simlar vien or it will result in a long holiday. If you dont like football then dont post in here just to troll. You are however more than welcome to post within the rules of ThaiVisa. Thanks for your understanding.
