Police from the Department of Special Investigation have arrested 14 foreign nationals for suspected involvement in a bank fraud scam which has swindled more than 100 million baht from victims.

The raid took place on a house in Bangkok's Bang Na area.

Pol Col Narat Sawettanant, DSI deputy director-general, said the suspects who are Chinese, Taiwanese and Burmese, are alleged to be part of an organised crime syndicate using internet telephony, or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), to run their racket.

The suspects masqueraded as bank officials to obtain potential victims' personal information, including identity card numbers, birth dates and bank account details, said Pol Col Narat.postlogo.jpg
