Convicted policeman missing in tsunami

BANGKOK: -- The December tsunami has caused the Criminal Court to postpone for one month the reading of Appeal Court verdicts for two policemen found guilty of having sex with underage girls and a woman charged with procuring them to work as prostitutes.

A clerk for the lawyer of Pol Lt-Col Sakda Changrua, 47, yesterday requested the verdict be delayed, telling the court the defendant, known to the girls as ``Uncle Sakda'', had gone missing in Phuket on Dec 26 while working as a guide for a group of foreign tourists.

With the consent of co-defendants Waeo Suknoom, 46, and Pol Sgt-Maj Anant Naksuk, 38, the court postponed the reading of the verdicts until March 24.

On Dec 19, 2002, the Criminal Court sentenced Waeo to 50 years in jail for luring underage girls into prostitution.

Pol Sgt-Maj Anant, a former traffic policeman at Buppharam station, was found guilty of having sex with a 13-year-old girl and was given eight years in prison.

Pol Lt-Col Sakda, was sentenced to 18 years in jail for molesting a 15-year-old girl at Lumpini police station and for having sex with a girl aged 13 on two occasions at different motels.

The offences allegedly occurred in December 2001. The defendants denied all charges.

Pol Sgt-Maj Anant was released on bail. Waeo did not seek bail and was returned to Thon Buri female prison.

A little too convenient methinks. :o

I'll bet the Criminal Court thinks the same way. :D

I hope someone spots him and notifies the police.

An 18 year sentence is 18 years too short IMO. :D

The Tsunami would have given many the chance to start a new life, a bet a few in Patty took advantage....only joking!

It would be ironic if the appeal court quashes his verdict.

What`s the betting that he turns up the next day if they do??
