Hi there,

Just wondering if you can help me.

I'm coming to Thailand August 5th from the UK. I have a return ticket out of Thailand on the 3rd September, therefore staying 29 days.

I was previously in Thailand on a non-im O (multiple) visa I got last year. That runs out on the 15th of August.

What happens in my case? Do I get a tourist visa and the non-immigration visa doesn't get taken into account?

Also, if I do just arrive in Suvarnabhumi and get a tourist visa - how does this happen? Do I need any documents? (I know something got changed not so long ago, but not sure which). I read a few websites but i'm not sure still. I read that you have to show £400, how do you go about doing this? Also, is this always checked?

Thanks

Just enter your visa number on the TM. 6 Arrival/Departure card, and you should receive a "Permited to Stay" period of 90 days.

If your visa is still valid till 15th of august than fill in the number of your visa on your arrival card. At the airport immigration will then give you a permission to stay for 90 days.

If you don't have a valid passport you would just provceed to immirgation, hand your passport and they will give you a permissiion to stay for 30 days. No forms or photo's needed, (they take one themselves).

Enjoy your stay.

Ok, so when the visa stamp in my passport says "This must be utilized before 15th Aug 2009", does that mean that's the date for when I can get my last stamp for 90 days? ie. the 15th of August isn't when it runs out completely? (I was confused whether it meant that the 15th August was the day it expired completely, so if I got a visa before, it would run out then).

Thanks for the reply

A visa is a permission to travel to Thailand, nothing more. When you travel to Thailand you get a permission to stay, which is a seperate thing. So while the visa will run out on the 15th, there isn't a problem as you entered before that date and your permission to stay will remain valid.

If you are only staying for 29 days, no visa is required. You will be given a permit to stay for 30 days for free.

True, but he has already paid for the visa, so that entry won't cost anything either, and could stay longer if he had a schedule change.
