July 28, 200916 yr Hey guys, a few years back I was caught working without a permit. I went to the police station got fingerprinted, waited a few weeks at home and went to court. The guard left the cell door open so I could go to seven eleven. lol. Anyways, the judge gave me a 2,000 baht fine and that was it. And a work permit was granted from the company (I was jailed for 2 hours on court date and wasnt deported) My question is now i want to get a Non-O visa. I havent been in Thailand for years. My wife is Thai. We were contemplating a biz start up or get a job. My question is -do I have a criminal record or just a fine (like a parking ticket)? If a crime will it have an impact on my visa.
July 28, 200916 yr It is a serious offence, but I doubt it is enough to be blacklisted. That would more be done in very serious crimes and when you are percieved a danger to the public or the state. Since you where not deported and got a WP since I doubt that they will deny you entry. In general they don't check visa applications, so you probably won't find out till you arrive.
July 28, 200916 yr Author I had 5 re-entry tourist visa's (border run at the time 30 day) after my non-b expired (wasnt working, learned my lesson). So entry isnt a problem. I would like to know if it shows a record.
July 28, 200916 yr You will have a criminal record, in the sense that there is a rcord about you. Normaly it wouldn't matter, untill you apply for permanent residency or Thai nationality. Then they check your records here in Thailand and abroad. How serious they will take this kind of ofence in that instance, you will have to aks a lawyer or immigration itself. For the rest I can't see why it should be a problem.
