Anyone been there? Comments?

I'll be making one of my infrequent visits to Bangkok next week. One of the pleasures for me, in a visit to the big city, is the diverse amount of eating establishments available. :)

I know I'll be paying a visit (maybe a few) to Jorge's Tacos & Salsa restaurant. Also a visit to Beirut restaurant at Ploenchit Center.

Plus, of course some Indian food & Italian food. Perhaps a pizza somewhere.

Anyone got any other recommendations for this country boy?

Thanks in advance.

My experiences with the Rib have been at the Pattaya location. For me, the buffalo chicken wings with the super hot atomic sauce are the top highlight. I have had mixed experiences with the pork ribs. Others have suggested the beef ribs. They are supposed to have good burgers but I didn't think they were very good.

I went there for their July 4th buffet. My Thai date loved it, and I thought it was pretty darn good. I only wish they did the buffet more often.

We like the atomic wings too, they are hot...really hot....along the lines of my Isaan husband's somtam with 12-15 chillies per individual serving...phew, love 'em! Hubby also likes their ribs but they are expensive so I'm trying to convince him to make them at home on the BBQ instead...

I usually post in these threads since I live around the corner and eat there a lot (Suk. 36). The beef ribs are really good for Thailand. Yeah, they're not beef ribs back home and they're a bit chewy, but that's par for the course. The seasoning and smoking of them are excellent. The quesadillas are the best in town (which is surprising, given that Tacos & Salsa does everything else Mexican better). All the basics are good - beans, cole slaw, potato salad, corn, etc. The cornbread is fantastic and I always get a plate if I have room. Being from Texas I'm not a huge pork BBQ fan, but I dig the pork ribs fine and I assume others who like pork BBQ really quite like them a lot. The burger's a disappointment for some reason, but I can deal with that. The chili's not bad. It's not real Texas chili, but it's got a good flavor. The nachos, which use the chili as a base, are pretty dam_n good. Their macaroni section isn't bad. It's not great either, just an okay change of pace from time to time. I could go on, but I guess I've gone on long enough, heh. My recommendation, if you like beef then start with the chicken quesadillas, then beef ribs and then either apple or key lime pie (make sure they don't drizzle chocolate on either one, this happened to me once - who puts chocolate on apple or key lime?). If you like pork, start with the quesadillas (pork or chicken) and then get the pork ribs, which are the specialty anyway. Same for deserts. Go early before they run out of pie, though. The wings and nachos are both good substitutes for the quesadillas if you're not a fan of quesadillas. Add a side of cornbread and make sure to try to slaw.

The one thing I'd say negatively is that they've been trying a lot of new specials of late (I assume to drum up business at the location) and I can't believe Rob or whoever the head chef is, is in charge of these because they've all been just bad. The brisket special is awful. I went for the set lunch the other day just to try it and the ribs tasted like two day old ribs with a fresh coat of BBQ sauce. Basically, stick with the main menu and you should generally be okay. Maybe I've just had bad luck trying the various specials, but whatever the case it's not working for me.
