Give Good Get Good

Featured Replies

I have seen this posted before but try as I might i can not find it.

The thai phrase for

If you give good you get good, if you get bad you get bad

I know it has 'dee dee' and 'chua' in it

In roman and thai script please :)

Thanks heaps

ทำดีได้ดี ทำชั่วได้ชั่ว

tum dee dai dee, tum chua dai chua.

Can someone explain why it's 'tum' and not 'tam'? Where I come from 'tum' would be pronounced with a 'u' as in 'tumble'.

It's just one way of writing it. The 'um' sound in 'tumble' (in the flavour of English I speak, Australian) is pretty much exactly what is needed for ทำ. Then again, perhaps it's not in your English or someone else's. No transliteration scheme works straight away for everyone.

When spoken how to pronounce Chua please

Chooway

Choowah

The latter. Say it with a falling tone, make the "wah" part fairly short, and try not to let the "oo" sound become "ew" as in "chew". Instead, think of the "oo" sound in "book", spoken with a standard British pronunciation. It's easier than it sounds.

In fact, just go to the following link and try to copy the pronunciation.
