One-way Ticket From Us - Non-immigrant Ed Visa

Featured Replies

I've received my single-entry non-immigrant ED visa from the Thai consulate in Chicago (very quick service - returned 5 days after they received my passport). I have a one-way ticket on Thai Airways from L.A. to BKK and don't anticipate any problems, but reading the forum I have begun to wonder whether anyone has had any problems with traveling on a one-way ticket from the US. Reading the forum has made me think that sometimes this is an issue with individual airlines.

I'm looking forward to my time studying in Thailand, and am just hoping to forestall any issues ahead of time. If it is likely to be an issue I will buy a ticket to see my sis-in-law in Manila on Air Asia... :)

With a Thai visa in your passport the airline should be fine. Thai Immigration will stamp you in for 90 days when you arrive in Thailand.

Yes. No problems if you have a Visa.

Thanks for the quick responses... :)

I had thought not since Thai authorities don't require it, but I saw posts that seemed to indicate sometimes airlines could be quirky.

I think I have too much of a tendency towards lending too much credence to Murphy's law...

The IATA entry for air travel specifically allows travel on a one-way ticket to Thailand for those with a visa. If questioned by someone without a clue just clue them in to check there computer. But even Murphy should not have a problem in this regard.
