Hello, My Wife and I will be traveling for a month to Thailand for our honeymoon this next winter and I had a question. My sister will be working in Nepal on her Doctorate and we thought it would be cool to jump over there and say "hi" for a week at the beginning of our trip. I tried to calculate the cost of such a trip from here in the States and it came out to be about 2000 US dollars each for us to fly from the states to Thailand, to Nepal for a week, back to Thailand and then back to the States a month later. I did a little research and found Thai airlines would fly us close (India) and back for about $150 each. My question: Is it much more affordable to buy tickets from within Thailand once we get there? I couldn't actually find a direct flight through Thai airlines to Nepal. Any help regarding traveling to Nepal from Thailand greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Khun John! You need better travel advisor and some good guidebook!Do not travel without it,guidebooks are usefull in travel planning.

Also you should equip youself with map.

Thai Airlines(TG) fly to Nepal every day about 10 morning - nonstop.Return special fare is about 10 000B(300$)/pax.You better

buy it in Thailand.Visa on arrival. You can go to India,if you want on same trip, but you need visa in advance.

Guidebooks? - highly recommended:LonelyPlanet and their website:www.lonelyplanet.com

I am sure - you will have great time!

When flying from Bangkok to Kathmandu be sure to get seats on the right side (looking forward) of the plane for the best view of Everest.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Is that 10000B a person one way? or round trip for two people?

You can go a lot cheaper on Nepal Airlines, about $90 each way. Wait until you get to Thailand and buy your ticket at the airport or downtown travel agent.

You seem to be a bit lost. Therefore the advice to read guidebooks - highly recommended:LonelyPlanet is essential for you. Consider also the climate in Nepal in winter! It could be that it will not be possible to travel overland to some places.

Don't ever fly with any Nepali airline internationally. Unsafe, frequent cancellations!! Domestically in Nepal you obviously have no choice. Try the flight around the Everest for about 120USD. Fantastic! Can be booked anywhere in Katmandhu.

The Soaltee Crown Plaza hotel is good value for money. You should get a nice room for about 50USD/night.

I subscribe to the same opinion about RoyalNepalAirlines,my opinion is even worse(toilets - bloody shame!) - but they have improved very much;previous notorious problems were created by their ruling family(Royal in name) which grabbed aircrafts(they had 2 only) for their

travels, disrupting the schedules. Now,they are passe.RNAC is the only 2nd option from Bangkok.Winter is off season - but you may be left

without any choice;then remember - request for seat on the right side(coming,left- leaving) and far from toilets!
