What Pesticides In The Smoke Foggers To Kill Mosquitoes?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

recently those people in the blue overalls were walking around, spraying pesticides to kill mosquitoes with one of these portable smoke fogger things.

What kind of pesticide are they using in there? I saw the kids were following the guys and having a fun time jumping around in the pesticide-fog, but with all the health-related issues about pesticides, I'm pretty sure that it's doing them no good.

If you don't know what pesticides they are using, maybe you have an idea how I could figure it out?

Thanks!

Ben

There are 2 types - both used in Thailand:

Thermal Foggers - and the chemical is pesmethrin " 0.2% concentration

Cold Foggers - which use pyrethrins at around 0.5% (if I recall correctly).

The net has loads of info on both compounds written up

thanks a lot, maizefarmer!

is it pesmethrin or permethrin? google can't find much for pesmethrin and suggests permethrin.

permethrin, and i also wondered. i also wonder whether they actually had any in the fogger and not just diesal fuel since i didnt see any affects on any flying insects of any kind, nor on larvae. probably super diluted and ineffective.

there was once a thread about muu baans dilating the chemicals in the fogger, to save money, cant remember what forum it was--
