No Longer Welcome As Subscriber To Maxnet!

I have used Maxnet since February 2006 and have been satisfied with their service. I have used the indy package which is more than enough speed for me which use Internet mainly for internet banking, e-mail and the occasional surfing on Thaivisa.

This year I had to spend a few months more than usually in Europe because on of my elderly parents was sick. In late March I went to Maxnet`s local office to ask if there was possible to either have a drop or cancel my subscription for 4-5 months with the intention to reopen up the subscription as soon as I was back in Thailand.

A drop was not possible, but was told I could cancel and reopen when back in Thailand. So I did with the promise from the Maxnet staff that I could reopen my subscription when I returned.

When I returned to Thailand five days ago, and the day after visited their local office to reopen my subscription I got the message that this was impossible without a work permit! When asking why, I was told it was because some people do not pay their bills. When I absolutely believe there are people who are less good than others to pay their monthly bills do I at the same time find it embarrassingly ignorant to put everyone in the same “drawer” `

I told the staff there to check my personal payment record ,but they could not (did not want probably)do that for one or another reason! Personally I have never even been late with a monthly payment.

I believe I’m not the only retired here without a work permit, but with a healthy pension and like to have access to Internet! Anyone with knowledge about the sudden change in rules at Maxnet!

Thanks & Regards.

You might already be aware of this if you have been keeping in touch with local news whilst in Europe, but during the time you have been away Maxnet have had some sort of financial collapse. They are presently sending out new contracts, with a covering letter in Thai only, to all subscribers. Maxnet shops have also been instructed not to take bill payments and customers have been directed to certain banks to pay their bills. I have to say I'm not 100% clear myself what has happened, but it occurs to me that what you have been told might be a convenient fob-off which is down Maxnet's problems, as opposed to yours.

Thank you for the reply!

Have to admit that I have not followed the news here in Thailand from day to day when in Europe!

However I guess you are on to something when you mention financial problems.

The last time it was possible to pay at their offices, I got offered special price if I paid in advance. Think it was around Nov/Dec last year!

Nearly the same thing now, no need of a work permit if wanted to pay for 6 or 12 months in advance! Sure I could do that, but I’m careful with the dosh and when the travel agencies in Europe sell you insurance against financial airline collapse do I believe Maxnet not have that solution!

Solution for me is probably to open a subscription in my wife’s name even if it’s a bit illogical in my eyes. I.e., bills I’m responsible for do I like to be addressed in my name, the telephone number is in my name, rent, etc,.

Thanks & Regards :)

Maxnet is now Triple T Internet and according to the rumour mill a soon to be part of Loxinfo (Temasek Singapore)

Let's see soon...

I was in the same case after 2 months of interruption, and it has been suggested, to which I agree, to pay every month in advance, without a new contract, with a 1'000.-- refundable deposit!

Change of Company rather than raise in fees.

I use Premier for real Internet.

This is an interesting thread. I live in Pattaya six months out of the year and used to "suspend" my Maxnet Premier account while I was gone and pre-paid my TT&T phone

This year it was cheaper to pay Maxnet in advance the 590 THB fee for Indy service for the six months I will be gone. They charged me 50 THB for the downgrade in service from Premier to Indy but it was worth it, IMHO, to have Internet on when I walk into the condo in November. I can then go down and upgrade and who knows what "deals" and "speed" they will then be offering by then

Before the math wizards jump in here, the reason that it was cheaper is because if you suspend your account they still charge you for the full month that you are in when you suspend service and by pre-paying I received a 5% discount so the 590 THB was really only 560 THB

Based upon what has been reported in the thread it will be interesting to see what happens when I return and "upgrade"

Well I ended up with Maxnet again, but in my wife’s name. The same indy package, but now with 3MB which is more like 2.5

I have however a question for they in the know. Very often the connection get disconnected and windows popping up with the message you are disconnected - try again?

Why do this happen. It was never like this with my previous subscription to Maxnet.

Can this have something to do with the configuration of IP and DNS server (receives automatic IP address and DNS server address)!

Thanks

Last week I finally took the plunge and told TT&T what to do with their Maxnet (Mininet?) I took myself off to Loxinfo where a grumpy frumpy lady told me that Loxinfo are no longer an ISP and to go to the Intenet shop across the road.

When did this happen? I don't sleep that much!

What? :)

CSloxinfo is one of the largest ISP's in Thailand. They recently have changed their head office to Rachada

Call them and ask 02-263-8000
