Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application
Honestly reading this thread kind of makes me question working here long term as I would like to eventually become a citizen. The requirements itself aren’t that bad and are kind of in line internationally but the insanity is the processing times and allegedly all that time you need to have the work permit etc and you can never know what happens. Even for the PR which I think I will apply this year, I read can take almost 2 years to process?? The bureaucracy is completely insane, this stuff gets processed in like a month or two in Hong Kong for instance or somewhere like in Taiwan. And the fact while the country is corrupt to the nose, the corruption doesn’t help with this stuff so you cannot pay for the fast lane like you could likely do in Cambodia for instance. I talked to the PR desk and they said I should pass because my income is around 250k per month, BOI company, can speak enough Thai.. but the processing time completely insane. I understand that they don’t want to naturalize everyone with a pulse which is good and neither grant PR because a big portion of foreigners in this country are knuckledraggers that should be nowhere near any permanent status, but at least have the processing to be somewhat transparent and smooth even if the requirements are high.. -

French scientist denied US entry after phone messages critical of Trump found
What if he replaces it with virtuous, upstanding MAGA-style country music artists, only the finest fiddlers, spoon-players, and washtub virtuosos, with lavish line-dancing performances and do-si-do extravaganzas! Content beloved by over half the country! Shirley, you won't deny the arts that the majority of Americans want to see! -

Irrational hatred of Trump? Supporting Trump is the irrational thing unless you're a greedy billionaire. -

PM Paetongtarn Balances Family Time Amidst Farmers' Outcry
No they are not. The culprit is CP Foods. However, CPF will 'pay' their way out of the situation. The PM is just waiting to see how large her envelope is. Nothing else to do but play with the kids until envelope accepted. -

What you call "irrational hatred", sane, intelligent and rational people call "patriotism". See, some of us not only went to school and learned about the ideals for which the US stands, but also studied the Constitution and understand the Founders' concept and intent of "free speech", "freedom of the press", "freedom of assumply", etc., know that POTUS is against everything the Founders intended. They knew too much power in one place led to oppression as well as self-dealing, so they set up 3 equal branches of government. The current POTUS prefers autocracy and imagines himself a king with unrestrained power as well as protection from lese majeste laws. Last Friday he admonished attorneys at the DoJ to look into his critics---such as major media---because "it must be illegal". Some of us served. Some of us also lived in or dealt with foreign entities that were autocratic. We know the dangers first hand, and those leaders are anathema to us. That is not what the Founders intended, nor is it what many of us went into harm's way to defend. You never put yourself on the line for the US, so you are incapable of understanding, just as you are incapable of understanding what the Founders intended when Madison and Jefferson put their thoughts and intentions into words. Democracy does allow the ignorant and the willfully ignorant to vote. Sadly, more of them voted in 2024 than intelligent people, so we are living the prediction of H.L. Mencken about the common people someday getting their wish and the White House occupied by a moron. For the time being, the ignorant have won. This will pass, though it is those every same ignorant who will suffer most from the coming economic collapse and the abandonment of the allies who have kept keep the world pretty safe and pretty prosperous for the last 80 years. -

Not happy. Trump has taken the most esteemed national arts institution The Kennedy Center and turned into a fascist <deleted> show.
