Looking For Reliable Internet

Featured Replies

I already know that the title has caused numerous people to be admitted to hospital with split sides, I know that I couldn't resist if I had read that title either, so go for it :D

Seriously though. I have just had my building's landlord down chatting with me about the internet service here. He is paying an old price for a 3Mb service from TRUE that is, like most people know, generally OK but not wonderful. I was about to recommend upgrading to the 4Mb service to save him 36 baht a month when he said that he was going to call Maxnet and go with their 10Mb service. My heart raced at the endless possibilities and then I remembered to check in at TV. Well, Maxnet aren't looking too good to put it mildly.

So, who is recommended? He is obviously happy paying up to 1,500 baht a month, so what would be the best ISP and package. I am more concerned with consistency than outright speed (i.e. I would rather get 3Mb 24/7 than 10Mb for 3 hours a day at 02:00) and, naturally, international connection speeds. We are particularly keen on good connections to Europe. I know that this is supposed to be out of the control of the ISPs, but I have noticed that TRUE seems to manage to "balls up" great swathes of connections to Europe that require a proxy switch or general refreshing.

Over to you guys and girls. Looking forward to your comments :)
