Ok, i managed to organise a heavily discounted holiday back to thailand with the girlfriend in feb. we booked Jetstar 2 for 1 fares Syd-Phuket and BKK-Melb. soon after Airasia had their $0 fares so i hastily booked flights from phuket to BKK and BKK to Chiang Rai as my GF hasn't been there. silly me left about 1 hr between flights and realised we wouldn't make the connection so wasted about 1000 baht.

i then booked later flights arriving in bkk 4.20 and leaving 7.45. my 1 concern is airasia reliability. has anyone experienced delays on that route? were they very long? and same questions for other routes if people don't have the exact experience. i could still catch my morning flight to bkk giving me about 10hrs leeway but obviously would much prefer just 3hrs.

I have had good experiences with airasia but there always seems to be an 30-60 minute delay on their flights

30-60mins would be fine, were you able to check well beforehand that it was delayed ie on their site or did you only find out once at the terminal?

Only late once but then so far have only flown twice so 50% tardy!

The story was that our flight got cancelled as it was nowhere near full so we were bumped to the later one. 3.5 hour wait and still waiting for the compensation!

Air Asia bin good to me.

Once from HKT to BKK they were 2 hours late.

They musta known sumphin, I fell asleep at digs.

1 hour after flite was due to leave, I woke up.

Went out to airport, reckoning on getting next flite, next morning..

I arrived and it was still checking in, WOW, wunnaful Air Asia.

......well for me, maybe not the other 30 or so passengers on board.

It was last flite out that day.

I have been all over S.E.A. with them, no probs of their making.

I find them quite okay in ratio to what you pay, but I would always allow plenty of connecting time.

I've often wondered how kind they would be if you played safe and allowed a few hours space between two of their flights and if the initial flight was very late and you missed the connection to their latter flight?

Been flying with them now for 4 - 5 years, many flights and no real problems except a few items stolen from a bag when they were flying out of Don Muang. But that may not have been Air Asia fault as such, I don't know how closely tied to the airlines are the baggage handlers?

It really will not matter if the flight is delayed They close the check in right on time,on the dot,not a minuet late

at some places they do, at some places they don't.....

from my own experience as a pretty frequent user of AirAsia, and monitoring flight delays anywhere in Asia, the flights on their new A-320 seemed to be on time almost 100%, whereas the flights on their older B-737 (which are around 22-25 years old) often are delayed - maybe due to technical issues.

you can check which aircraft is scheduled to be used (thought there is no guarantee for that) on websites such as www.flightstats.com or www.quicktrip.com

I always try to book flights on the new A-320.....
