Royal Thai Police Block ?

SMEEERE

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have the same problems from yesterdays (MaxNet Premier) but it seems in fact a "glitch" !

Everytime I had the message, I hit "Refresh" and could reach the site ...

Maybe the Internet was working too good, it was starting to be indecent !

NB:The first message was displayed as I tried to upload a photograph of my cats ! :)

I started a topic on this same problem recently at Page serving issues with True

In the end I discovered this has everything to do with TRUE and not something further up the line. I made a variety of requests to them to "release" the domains and they did. My conclusion to this was that TRUE has an "invisible proxy" set up to handle internet queries. I am now considering paying for a "professional" proxy to alleviate my own issues....expensive solution I shouldn't have to take, but I know it will be quicker and less painful than trying to get TRUE to resolve this themselves.

For sure I will purchase this proxy from OUTSIDE of Thailand to ensure I get SOME level of technical expertise!! This might not be the solution for all of these problems, but it has worked on the sites I was experiencing these issues for.

Good luck all :)

Maxnet premier..

Couple of days ago my normally 2.5Mbit plus international line crawled for a day, then it came back up in speed tests but the latency, pings, and delays 'waiting' started making net use painful.

In the last 2 or 3 days I keep getting random "Sorry, the web site you are accessing has been closed by Royal Thai Police due to inappropriateness such as pornography, gambling or contain any information which is deemed to violate national security." popping up on all kinds of sites, forums, google, gmail, etc.. Gmail is especially slow and the pauses with 'working' displayed feel like hangs.

I am hearing reports from others with exactly the same issues so can only assume that they are putting in filtering servers which are slow, badly configured, and under strain. A crying shame as my maxnet has been great so far.

I've been getting the same Royal Thai....bla bla on 'inocent' sites, such as google news and and mail and my first theory is that their spy software has gone kaput and my 2nd theory is that China has taken over the internet here. hope my opinion is within forum rules.........

Works fine from my DSL ISP with TT&T in Chiang Mai.

Could anyone do me a favour and test this URL from within Thailand and let me know if it is accessible - the domain hasn't been resolving. The IP address works fine though, maybe this is just a problem with 'True ADSL'

http://www.mycyberhosting.net

It didn't give the police warning but was unreachable, I suspect there is a problem with the True DNS service and somehow there are a whole bunch of domains missing from it, I can't help thinking it's related to some kind of cock up with their censorship system although I could be wrong.

I'm not in Thailand at the moment so can't run any more tests myself. This is a website which belongs to a colleague of mine and we have had reports from various people who can't access any of our servers from within Thailand, it's almost as if they have blocked an entire web host for some reason.

Edit : It's working fine from England at the moment.

Has anyone experiencing this problem also noticed lately that pages sometimes load but are totally unformatted and just a long vertical column? I think it's the same random blocking occasionally blocking the .css files for a site.

This company is such a joke. I just got another random charge on my bill - 300 baht for "rental fee". They were totally unable to explain what it was for and just said it was for "old service", whatever that means. I asked what exactly was being rented and why this was on my bill 7 months after using their service but she couldn't explain because the computers were down, the identical excuse given the previous month when i when to inquire about a billing problem.

I received the Royal Thai Police message when posting an innocuous comment yesterday on a thread here at ThaiVisa. I hit the 'go back one page' arrow and posted my message without further interruption, however, my comment ended up being posted twice.

Perhaps someone who has an affected service should report this in a complaint to a company like Google who will then investigate to see why their service is at least partially banned in Thailand by the police.

Large companies like this can get results. I might embarrass the ISP into fixing this obvious problem.

I AM NOW fuc_kING LIVID WITH THIS SHIT.

THE INTERRUPTIONS TO READING/POSTING TO MY YAHOO EMAIL, VARIOUS NEWS SITES AND EVEN THAI VISA IS, IN THE LAST FEW DAYS BECOMING VERY TEDIOUS DUE TO THESE PEA BRAINED MORONS WITH THEIR PURITANICAL AGENDA.

Why can't they concentrate on fining me for not wearing a helmet?

Sorry and apologies all around for the shouting, but the rate at which this is increasing is unprecendented. It just took me three attempts to access a yahoo email from a friend. It is also a total waste of the Thai tax payers' hard earned cash, as anything the Thai police attempt can be circumnavigated.

If they are worried about criminals in Thailand then they surely know where they should start prosecuting the guilty.

It's opening fine for me on Maxnet in Chiang Mai.

Same (Maxnet) in Udon Thani

Still looking at a blank screen after a few minutes and refreshing a couple of times, TT&T, southern Thailand.

Works fine through one of those P things we are not allowed to mention on TV.

Update:

And now suddenly it's started working for whatever reason.

TT&T (maxinet) added an amount to my bill, on one occasion,in 12 months. This i was told, was for line rental or maintenance, sorry, not quite sure which one.

If my memory serves me correct,i owed Baht 120 a month for "x" number of months.

When I took out a contract they specify how much for what service. For some reason I have the following bills each month

TOT 107 baht

TTTi 599.74 baht

TT&TSS 31.56 baht

I believe TOT supply the bit of copper and the last two provide the internet.

If they come along and ask for more then I will not pay it. I have a contract with them for the above amounts. They even insisted I had to resign the contract when they bumped up the speed from 2 to 3 MBits recently.

Maybe you haven't been paying the TOT bills?

After a few more "Thai police" messages it looks like they are "hijacking" the adverts which are placed on the web site pages with their stupid message. These adverts are not directly under the control of the "base website" which "rents out" space on its pages to other companies who can squirt what they want into that space for a fee.

This is getting extremely obtrusive. Just took me four attempts to access a yahoo email.

And two attempts to write this to TV.

I'm now in Hong kong in transit to China. We have similar problems there, web sites blocked for no obvious reason. We think it's just China's surveillance software that behave in an erratic manner, just like your anti-spam software deleting legitimate messages. For those who need to access a lot of foreign web sites for commercial research, I heard they use a "proxy", whatever it means.

My friend just sent this email:

When I logged on to Morningstar to check my stock portfolio this morning, this is the message which greeted me....

Sorry, the web site you are accessing has been closed by Royal Thai Police due to inappropriateness such as pornography, gambling or contain any information which is deemed to violate national security

What next?

I just tried the BBC again and it's not worth waiting. It's looking like....err.....what's the polite word?....."traffic shaping" for many weeks now.

(When I checked three other overseas sites they again loaded normally and instantly).

About one month ago, I was in Thailand and needed some important information from a Canadian agricultural research center. I tried for a few days in a row but impossible to log in ! I found my information somewhere else and forgot about it until today after reading this thread. I'm now in China and I just tried to connect, it works !!!

Thailand a hub for education and research ? And you can't access a research center in North America ? :D:)
