60 Day Tourist Visa & 30 Day Extension. Then What Can I Do To Stay In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hello ~ I'm a citizen of the USA, am 45 years old, and have applied to a Thai consulate in the USA for a 60 day tourist visa (I'm assuming this visa would be a single entry tourist visa) which I understand can be extended for an additional 30 days while I'm in Thailand.

1. If I want to stay in Thailand longer than these 90 days, what do people suggest I do?

2. How many tourist visas am I permitted?

3. How many tourist visa extensions am I permitted?

I'm a newcomer to this forum, so apologies in advance if this question has been asked before. I didn't see this topic in the forum...

Thanks in advance for whatever help people can provide! :D

You should of applied for a 3 entry tourist visa. That would of given you almost 9 months without getting a new visa by doing extensions and border runs.

Now your choice is to go to Vientiane and get a free 2 entry tourist visa which will give you about 6 months.

There is no official limit on the number of visas or extensions you can get. Although some consulates have imposed their own rules. One example is Penang which has a 3 visa limit (single entries) if issued by them.

Agree with the above. Tourist Visas are free until 4th March.

Hi , guys , Iam dealing with the same thing here....

coming from Europe but same as USA I think....

I arrived with visa on arrival in June ,then went to Cambodia for new visum at embassy of phnom penh ,got a 2 month single entry , and in september 5 it expireds again, I know that I can co to immigration for an extra month , but I hear such wild and negative storys about that department , what = exualy police, that I would go for a new visum at an embassy again....

if I apply for a 3 month multy entry visum it means that I need to cross any border every 3 months?

Iam not to happy with this Thaivisaforest.....so confusing.to many visatrees to see.

regards Guyido.

A 30 day extension of stay is very simple - photo/photo copies and 1,900 baht. You do not seem qualified for any 3 month visa (married to Thai?) so 60 day tourist visa is all you can obtain at any local Consulate. A two entry is available from Vientiane.

Getting a 30 day extension is no big problem. Immigration offices do them all the time.

Just fill out a TM7 application form attach a photo and pay 1900 baht. You will also need a copy of your passport photo page, visa page and entry/permit to stay page and your TM6 departure card.

What kind of 90 day multiple entry visa do you plan on getting. If an O you will not get one any nearby consulate without being married to a Thai. The nearest place to get one to visit friends is Perth. Getting one does have it's advantages in that it only requires a border run every 90 days and will give you almost 15 months without getting a new visa.

If you don't a multiple entry visa then for your next tourist visa I suggest you go to Vientiane Laos and get a free 2 entry visa that with extensions and a border gives you almost 6 months without getting a new visa.

Ok thanxs for the info ...Its going to be Ventiane , bcs Iam not married with a Thailady...

anyone had bad experience with corrupt immigration officers?

Iam in BKK , and Thai locals give me nonstop warnings about the immigration offices here....

they advise not to give a home addresse but an office one ,wheres ever it is located, so thats Iam confused about my next step, I know the embassy or consulates are under foreign affairs , and immigration is under police department....

and thats no thrustfull place it seems

No problem with immigration officers has been reported unless you have done something wrong. You should not pay any attention to what you are being told.

Since you are on a tourist visa you can use whatever address you want. It can be a hotel, condo, apartment or guesthouse it does not matter.

Tourist visas are so often done at immigration in Bangkok that they even have a special desk for them.

Maybe one of the mods can clarify on this point....

When the Thai government announced its plan to offer FREE "no fee" tourist visas for a few months to supposedly help boost lagging tourism...I thought that free offer was only limited to single entry tourist visas....not doubles and such....

Am I wrong about that??? If so, happily willing to be corrected.....

That was the official word for both free visa programs. But in reality Vientiane has applied it to 2 entry visas.
