Just to follow up on this thread I just returned from KL with a brand new multiple Non O and I had no problems at all and as the OP reported Yes the times have changed to pick up your visa it is now 2.30 PM the next day and don't bother downloading the forms from the website they are outdated just get the new form when you get there.

I must add the embassy in KL is very efficient and very friendly service I would recommend KL to every body.

Cheers

Congrats Fred. How much bank balance (if any) did you have to show?
They did not ask for my bank book but just to make sure I gave it to them and they had a quick look and gave it back to me right away I think my balance was just on 100.000

Last year I had only about 50.000 and got the visa with no problems at all I think it is a good idea to take your wife along and make her do the talking :)

Thanks. Not sure about my Wife. Once she starts she never stops, and she admits it :)

Don't want to start another thread so might as well ask here.

I am going to Kl to apply for a TR visa soon.

yet I am wondering if I might have a chance of getting some other sort of visa.

We are currently getting the paperwork done to get married, however this won't be done before my visa runs out.

I do have a yellow tabian baan, my wife's blue tabian baan and a substantial amount in my bank account.

Just wondering if there might be any other possibilities then a TR visa?

Will ask them though.

Are you over 50 years old or did you invest more than 10 million baht?

Well bought house in future wife's name for 4.5 mil and got more in bank account don't know if that falls under investment?

Not over 50, 38 I am.

Not until you are Married.

I do know a Dutch couple of 45 year old who got multiple O visa jsut by showing their yellow book and long term lease hold.

If you are close to getting married it might be better to make a border run and get a 15 day entry. Get married and then go to a consulate and get a single entry non-o and apply for an extension based upon marriage if you can show 40K income or 400K in the bank for 2 months.

If not do the border run and go for the multiple entry after you get married.

You should be able get the paperwork to get married in less than 5 days. It is not that hard to do.

That's a multiple O visa from Amsterdam, where they are much easier than the consulates in Asia. If you fly to Perth, Australia you can get a multiple non-O, but here in Asia you will have to do with a border run or toursit visa till you are married.

Sounds like a plan :)

It's what I would do.

If you are going for the extension then you can get a single at any embaasy or consulate with just your marriage certificate. Go to

Vientiane and take your wife along she might enjoy the trip (mine always has).

In Amsterdam and a few other consulates in Europe you can get a multiple entry non-o visa to visit friends.

There is not any difference in what you do here with a B or O visa just the basis that you use to get them. You can get a work permit with either and get an extension of stay.

If applying for Non-B visa you will have to provide a letter from a thai company. That maybe difficult as you do not yet have a business. Therefore suggest you go Non-O route and obtain multi entry visa on basis of visiting friends. As UbonJoe says, you can obtain WP and extension of stay on either type of visa. Amsterdam consulate has a reputation for being helpful.

KL is Kuala Lumpur, malaysia, where you can get a multiple non-O visa. The non "O" is for people over 50, marreid to a Thai national etc. The non-B is for business/working.

You don't need a yellow book, that is for foreigners who have a house in their name. What you will need is your marriage certificate, a bankbook showing at least 30,000 baht in it and a copy of your wife's ID card plus a letter from your wife asking for a visa for you.

If your visa runs out in Jan, you can get another 90 days if you leave Thailand and return just before the visa expires.

You can get an extension of stay for 1 year from immigration in Thailand if you can show an incoem of 40,000 baht a month OR 400,000 baht in a bankaccount in Thailand.

I have asked my wife about writing the letter asking the Embassy to give a Non-O visa.

Turns out my wife has never written a letter to an official and she asked me how and what to write.

Is it too much if someone who has been successful using this letter to PM me a generic sample(in Thai) for my wife to read and use as a guide. In particular the format wording(salutation/closing).

If this has been posted before, can someone provide a link?

Last time I used a Letter my wife faxed it to the Embassy direct from Bangkok...

The letter said, simply in Thai....

To Kuala lumpur Embassy,

Please give my husband a One-Year multiple Entry Visa.

Thank you,

(signed).

Worked fine.

PS...

I'm going again next week.

My wife is coming, but we will prepare exactly the same letter again... just in case!

I think CosmicSurfer is right. Keep it simple, just asking for the visa is enough. It is just to show that your wife supports the apllication and there realy is a relationship.

As for Thai text, remember that at some places if you apply at a honorary conslate the staff can't read Thai and English would be better.

Update.

Just received 1-year multiple Non-immigrant Type "O" (Non-O) at Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (KL).

Everything pretty much as detailed in recent previous posts on this topic.

Returned from KL last week with a new Non-O multi entry. I was told that next time I came to KL for this visa that I should have 100,000 in my Thai bank account( I had slightly less this time). Didn't bother with the letter from my wife and they didn't ask 4 one.

Hi, non 'o' is for anyone, regardless of age, who is married to a Thai for multiple entry visit valid for a year, need to do a visa run every 3 months though to get additional 3 months up to validity date, and if you do a visa run day before it runs out, you still get another 3 months, so effectively for 15 months. ? Don't know wgere you get the 50 from, I am 42 and had my 1st non 'o' at 36
