Hi

I get my internet through TT&T and over the past couple of weeks i have been having problems accessing international websites, such as, skysports.com, ebay.co.uk, hotmail.com etc.. Online games are fine and most local websites fine. Complained to TT&T and they finally arrived today to tell me that the fault is within MY system not theirs. After speaking to a few people today about this i was told that TT&T give you full internet for the first 3 months, then after they downgrade your international sites to almost nothing without telling you. The timescales do fit and i was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem? If so, is there a solution?

Many thanks

There is no such thing as "Customer service or satisfaction" with TT&T or TOT, the only soulution I have found is to just grin and bear it and wait until a real competitor comes along, yes a long wait, but mai pen rai.

Our condo building has tried Tot, TNT, True and it's now with CAt. The way it works is we share a line with a number of other customers and then the signal goes up to each condo unit here. Everyone pays 150 baht per month with no exceptions. I think CAT is better than its predecessors but over a year ago I made a separate arrangement with TTNT for 1200 baht per month. I was told no more than 10 customers would ever share the line with me. In the last couple of months this service has gotten slower and slower and then two weeks ago, I could not get online. In spite of repeated calls to customer service, no one came out for 8 days. The tech who did come out seemed to know what he is doing and he got me online again. But my service was very slow. Supposed to be getting 2 megabytes download and 1 megabyte upload. Have been getting anywhere from 25 to 100 kbps upload for an average speed of 50 to 70. That's 5 to 7 % of what I should be getting. Download was okay. Before the signal was steady. If I ftp a picture file onto my web site, the speed accelerated until it hit what it should have been hitting and then leveled off. Now the signal is all over the place. However---once again during the past 2.5 days I've had no internet service whatsoever from TTNT and have been using my cheapie 150 baht per month CAT internet service we all get through the condo as my only internet service.

When I mentioned this to our condo manager (knowing of course there was nothing she could do about it) and said "I'm asking for a credit on my bill for all the days I've not had service (knowing full well I'd never be reimbursed) she joked back, "This is Thailand."

International acces on Indy accounts are dramatically reduced since June. After a lot of trouble with tt&t I decided to upgrade to a Premier account and pay now 1090 Baht for 2MB (before 590 Baht for 3MB). But it's working fine.

Hi,

Many thanks for replies.. yes have 2 x premier accounts (we are an internet cafe). One at 3 MB and the other at 2 MB.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this idea that the first 3 months are perfect then they reduce your international website access? It just changed overnight!

Customer service comes a close second to this problem i am having right now!

ok so here is what is happening....

http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Internet_Censorship_in_Thailand

Basically last year a Thai person posted something they shouldn't have about the King on youtube. Instead of banning the video or the link.... yep they banned youtube

Trying to read more about it but very difficult, as the only english information is chuffing slow. If there is a valid reason to block a site it will be blocked, otherwise it is illegal to do so (just like prostitution). As they block more and more sites (for no reason at all) they use a smokescreen to confuse people. Instead of saying "this site is blocked" they make it look like your internet is not working.. i.e. this page cannot be loaded blah blah blah...

Also an interesting point (if it is in fact true), if a person walks into an internet cafe etc and posts derogatory untraceable remarks, it will be the ISP who is in hot water, maybe that is why people like TT&T are so unresponsive and unwilling to help.... i by the way ring them everyday and demand a technician to come to my shop, just for funnsies....

Some contact info i got from Prachatai website, will be writing a few emails later in the day... also got their phone numbers too!
