Where Do I Get A Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

A British friend, who now lives in America, is coming to Phuket for 3 months. My understanding is he will receive a 30 day visa on entry and then a 2 month extention/new tourist visa (which at the moment is Free).

Where does he get the extention/new 2 month tourist visa, Phuket immigration, Ranong etc ????

You cannot get a tourist visa here in Thailand it has to be applied for at a Thai consulate or embassy. The longest extension that can be gotten for a 30 day visa exempt entry (it is not a visa on entry) is 7 days.

It would better if he got a tourist visa before he leaves the states. They are easy to get at any honorary consulate there. All give quick turn around of mail in applications. Use the pull down menu on this webpage to get a list of them. http://www.thaiembdc.org/AboutEmb/EmbDirect.aspx

Then before his 60 day entry finishes he can go to immigration and get a 30 day extension.

If not then he would have to go to Penang, KL or Vientiane Laos to get one.

thai embassy in usa

:)

The Visa is free but the 30 day extension will cost 1,900 Baht.

Get the Visa in the USA. Without it he may not be allowed on the flight without an exit ticket within 30 days of arrival.
