I am an American Citizen, not yet old enough for a retirement Visa. I have been able to get a non-immigrant type O multiple visa at the Thai Consulate in Bali for the last 3 years on the grounds that I own an apartment in Thailand and I would bring my Condo Title to proof this. I have just been informed by the Thai Consulate in Bali that their Jakarta Embassy has ordered them NOT to approve non-immigrant type O visa unless you're married to a Thai woman. I believe for the past 3 years - I've been lucky that the Thai Consul in Bali has been giving this visa for a reason that may not qualify.

I have been told that I can get a 1-Year-Non-Immigrant-type-O Visa at the Thai Consulate in Perth Australia simply on the grounds of visiting a friend in Thailand. I'm hoping that this is still the case and that Perth has not changed it's requirement. Can anyone who has been to Perth recently to get this Non-Immigrant-type-O multiple entry visa verify this for me?

I am planning on going to Perth mid November to renew my Visa.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

It is true. Maybe you should read the many posts about this on this forum before making such a posting ...

No he is not joking at all you can get one in Perth easy I got my first one just on the grounds of visiting friends in Thailand I was not married to my wife then. No questions ask no prove of income I just

supplied my passport and a passport picture and the completed form. I also have a few friends in Perth

who got the visa as easy as I got it. I don't think they have any restrictions on nationalities since I have

seen many other people with non Australian passports walking out smiling with there new visas.

Okay, great to hear this is true! But please don't get so touchy and assume that I haven't searched the site - I didn't come across posts about Perth by searching obvious key terms such as 'non-immigrant o visa', non-immigrant o, etc). Additionally, previous posts to ThaiVisa, other online searches, inquiries to legal experts and visits to immigration over the last couple of months didn't reveal this excellent solution.

Thanks ThaiVisa forum.

Jumparound, can you take us through this in more detail. On what basis did you apply for your Non-O? Visiting friends? If so, what documents did you present to the consulate? I am asking because presenting "sum birds id card or thai passport" is not the norm for this type of visa application. If the consulate asked you for these documents then it is indicating a shift in policy and an end of the "visiting friends" visa at Perth as we know it.
