Sleep Paralysis And Other Sleep Disorders.

Featured Replies

I've recently been experiencing sleep paralysis and waking suddenly with muscle spasms. This has coincided with a detox from most sugars, alcohol and cigarettes. Could the sleep problems be related to the release of toxins in the body, and is there anything natural I can take or do to get a calmer nights sleep?

Thanks people.

Good on ya for detoxing! While I don't know about the release of toxins, I've head severe leg cramps from time to time over the years. I was told this was a potassium deficiency, and to eat one banana a day. When I do, no more cramps. But after 2-3 without one, the cramps return. Could it be that the toxins are binding to and flushing out the potassium? (That's not a rhetorical question, I simply don't know.)

Good luck with sticking with your detox!

try magnesium tablets.a good brand is blackmore(aussie co.) can be found in pharmacies.they have worked for me,they relax the muscles.

I experienced sleep paralysis for many years and it is a very scary phenomenon. Complete paralysis of all muscles and a feeling of total helplessness and panic.

Then one day, about 25 years ago, I heard a doctor on a phone-in radio show give a fellow-sufferer advice - "Stop sleeping on your back!" It sounded almost dismissive and far too simple - but I tried it and it worked 100%.

The only difficulty is in training yourself not to turn on to your back during sleep, but that's not impossible - and certainly the thought of another onset of the paralysis can be a wonderful incentive!

Give it a try!
