This forum is for visas to countries other than Thailand; which is probably why you haven't had any responses!

Try posting your question in the Thai visas, residency and work permits forum.

Moved to visa section for Thailand.

From what I know from friends that have been in your situation you have to get a note from your doctor that you are pregnant and can't go on a visa run. Take that to immigration and they should extend your visa until after the baby is born.

Once you have had the baby you can get a non-imm O because you are the mother of a Thai National.

Good luck!

Yes, you can get an extension of stay from immigration for medical reasons. The extension os for 90 days at a time and cost 1,900 baht.

After the child is born it is inportant that the father registers the birth of the child himself at the amphur. Since your not married, only than will he has legitimised the child. If somebody else does it, inclusing the hospital, he will not have recognised the child as his. As far as the law is concerned he will not be the father.

If he does recognise the child he will be the father and the child will (also) have Thai nationality. As the mother of a Thai national you can apply for a non-O visa, allowing you to stay for 90 days. You can also get a multiple non-O, allowing you unlimited entry into Thailand during 1 year, each time you enter you can stay for a maximum of 90 days.

If you meet the requirements you can get an extension of stay for 1 year, and every year after, based on ahving a Thai child. Requirements are that you have an income of 40,000 a month (can be from abroad) OR have 400,000 in a Thai bank for 2 or 3 months)

"What is your point?"

No point. Is one needed?

This girls needs help! not criticism!

I would suggest that you get in touch A.S.A.P. with your Embassy and seek proffesional advice from them.

Just wanted to say a very big thanks to Mario2008 for all the help and support! u r great n keep up the fab work! :)

Also - THANK U THANK U THANK U To all of you who took the time and provided me with simple but oh so needed and useful advise!

The non-imm O visa only mentions married individuals so it never occurred to me that it would the right one after all.... Thanks again for everything.

Hope you all have a wonderful week :D

Just a mention, that I am a foreign female and I have had a baby in Thailand to my Thai boyfriend and we are not married. All the info posted here has been correct. The local immigration were really understanding when I was pregnant and the only thing they asked me to do for a few months before and after my baby was born, was to take her in to see them. It is VERY important that your Thai partner gets the b'cert registered at the amphur so his name will be put on as the father. Once you have that the o'visa is the one to get. I have not had any problems with this and my daughter is nearly 4 now. Also, the advantage of having you child in Thailand is as the foreign mother your child will automatically get dual citizenship. Your o'visa is still available to you then, even if you break up with your boyfriend until your child turns 17yrs.

Good luck

Believe that (dual itizenship) will depend on the laws of the foreign country - having the child in Thailand does not offer any special advantage - a child born of a Thai and foreigner in another country has the same birthright of Thai citizenship - the only extra step would be registration at the Thai Embassy for a Thai birth certificate from my understanding.
