BOMB ATTACK

NACC member's former house attacked

By The Nation

An explosive was thrown into a former house of Wicha Mahakhun, a member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission early

Friday morning in Bangplat district, damaging the house and another house nearby. No one was injured.

Wicha however no longer owned the house as he sold it in July to his neighbour, Yuwaluck Ungpanrangsri, a lecturer of Rajabhat University.

Police said the attack happened about 3.40am.

Wicha said in a telephone interview that he believed the attack was caused by some corruption cases he and the NACC were investigating.

Among them were the police's crackdown on the yellow shirted protesters in which a protester was killed and many others injured on October 7 last year and the golf course Alphine case.

He said he had been warned before by security authorities about his security and that he should have bodyguards. His neighours also informed him that suspicious men were seen near his house.

Meanwhile in a separate interview, Yuwaluck, who was not in the house when the attack happened, said the attack damaged only roofs of Wicha's former house which was empty but caused more damage to her own house more.

The explosion, she said, damaged her car, the roofs and door glasses.

She quoted a neighbour as saying that the attackers may use pick up to do the attack as sound of pick up's engine was heard before the attack.

Hello, this was done by another punk that wanted to send a message as the idiot did not know the house was sold. There was no danger of anyone getting hurt as it looks like they threw something from the street, and maybe more personal use cameras should be sold to any anti-corruption officials to know who the punks are.

NCCC member's former home bombed; no one hurt

BANGKOK, Sept 11 (TNA) - A bomb was thrown in the a home which was formerly owned by National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) member Vicha Mahakun, but no one was hurt, according to police.

The home is located in Bang Plad district and while the explosion damaged the garage roof and nearby houses, the residence itself had minor damage from the bomb.

The police also found the fragments of an M-213 bomb on the premises.

The house was formerly owned by Mr Vicha, who sold the property to a university lecturer in July, but she had not yet moved into the house.

Police believed the assailant intended to threaten rather than to kill as the whoever made the attack should have thrown the bomb into the house itself if he wanted to kill someone.

Mr Vicha is one of the NCCC members who ruled on Monday that criminal charges should be brought against former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat, former deputy premier Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyu, and seven high-ranking police officers including national police chief Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan in connection with the police crackdown on People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters on October 7 last year. Why anyone would want to attack an anti-corruption officer is beyond me..

Maybe it's pest control getting rid of cockroaches before the new tennant moves in..

Or disgruntled students recieving poor grades before their semester break and giving their lecturer a house warming pressie.

This was probably done by a stupid and corrupt individual who probably was cut receiving tea money. It seem to be unorganized and very personal

So now it is clear that there in an agenda here.

Once can be co-incidence with ongoing case coming up, twice is a pattern.

The cops should be able to work with the NCCC and figure out who they have collectively upset recently.

The list will be long.  Lets just make it easy, with a complete absence of any fact blame someone, as was the most likely plan of these attacks anyway,  Take your pick.

Bad guys don't send pointless messages, they burn the house to the ground with people in it or a fix bombs around their victims and blow them up.  Little acts like this normally come from those who want to vilify others and make them the scapegoats for the act, or incite coups.

wagging the dog.

I think the explosive was just meant as a friendly symbol of true democracy and freedom of speech.

ROTFLOL.

Yes, bless our likely reddened brethren, protecting their puyais from harm.

And why do I say likely reddened?

Because this is the side screaming loudest and longest about

the 'unfairness' of the NCCC and Thai courts. Most logical conclusion.

Now doubt this is just another under-informed twit, not having a clue where the guy lives.

I don't side with the Reds leadership at all.  All sides are playing this game of scapegoat to deny that is silly.  This may be one on someone else's side of the balance sheet, but your saying they would never do it and already believe someone did, thats the same as covering your eyes to possibilities.

I could make a creative list that makes anyone or group look bad, thats how campaigning works.   You left out all the issue from the other sides what ever they are and thats fine thats normal.  Its not poor reds, its poor Thailand as long as people won't look at the possibility of wrong doing on all sides.

Writing everything off as the reds did it or the yellows is why it has gotten as bad as it is.  This could vary well be the work of those you wish to blame, but I believe it is not in their interest to do this.  It is in the interest of others if they believe they can do it without harming any people, just my way of looking at it and nothing at all to due with the poor reds.

Pissing off the court is normally not a good idea when they can sentence you later.  Some people would like a coup even if the reds didn't exist .. simple logic at best I agree, but not at all imposable.

It gets hard to make a point after so much water from all sides has crossed under the bridge.  I would recommend trying to at least look at each incident in a separate light.  I am not a party to all the scapegoating you have listed, we don't need to automatically throw everything and everybody in the same box.  I am not red.

Example;  I believe most likely the doctored tapes were made by a red, but not as ordered by its leadership, just a novice working overtime in the mistaken belief they were helping the cause and it would help a lot if others could at least see that it is a possibility without jumping to the conclusion that one is from the red camp...its not vary productive.  Of course some members of the house have made politic of the tapes, thats what politicians do, and others are 100% sure they know it was Thaksin that ordered them made.

With regard to most on your list I don't recall ever having commented on them.

Point being, someone under investigation may not have anything to do with it at all and others stand to gain from chaos.   There are others not to happy with the court and as I have predicted they may go bananas because of recent rulings themselves and a resent blow to the head which has them understandably upset.   Hardball is becoming the name of the game.

likely possibility of wagging the dog, still holds water.  with or without poor reds.  No creditable investigation can ignore that possibility.  True the loudest voices will get a good look first.

I believe it is not in their interest to do this.

Was it in their interest in doing all the things I listed earlier? Did they look good after having committed those crimes? If not, why did they still do it? Your reasoning of this bombing not being in the reds interest is just weak, considering their past behaviors. Have the reds not had the history of idiotic wrong doings? If you can honestly answer this question, I think you might see the light.

Pissing off the court is normally not a good idea when they can sentence you later.

NACC is not a court. They are an independent investigative body.

Example; I believe most likely the doctored tapes were made by a red, but not as ordered by its leadership, just a novice working overtime in the mistaken belief they were helping the cause .

Yeah, a novice doctored the tape, not ordered by its leadership. That's why it was quickly systematically distributed over the internet, red radio statations, red rallies in Isan etc...heck the PTP MPs even repeatedly tried to play it in the House of representatives, despite the reprimands from the House speaker. Yeah a novice deviced that.

Police beef up security following bomb attack on Wicha's old home

Police would beef up security for important figures following the bomb attack at old home of National Anti-Corruption Commission member Wicha Mahakhun on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban.

Suthep said he already assigned acting Police Chief Pol Gen Thanee Somboonsap to strengthen the security to prevent reoccurence of the bomb attack on Wicha's old house in Bang Plat district.

Metropolitan police are also ordered to conduct checking and patrolling in many areas to restore confidence among the public.

Suthep also asked people to provide information or a tip if they know about the attackers on Wicha's old residence.

Without the Head Red's ego run amok, the likelihood of a coup would have been small.

Rant on about the judiciary;

it's great if you win, and biased of you lose, same old same old.

Boring it gets, boring it stays.

Not everything that happens is automatically the fault of people you have hard feeling toward. Other events may have nothing to do with this, without evidence that they are connected to this. Yours is speculating the same as I do, sum zero.

Messing with the investigation will piss the court off every time, try it if you don't believe it.  :)  Those being investigated have little to gain, their enemies much.  It warrants speculation.

The rest of my quote of course was that yes the  politic used the tape, its what they do,  add to that, especially if they can't be blamed for it existing, its like Christmas.

I watched the house on TV even the PM tried to read from the transcript of the tape and Mr. Charlum objected and the speaker had to stop HIM, is that the type reprimand you speak of.   I guess they both got there share of reprimand that day.  Fun and games it was..

Ask Ted Kennedy about Anita Hill and FBI files, Kennedy knew she was full of it, but didn't matter to him.  Thats what they do with gifts like that, the unsolicited are the best kind.  There hands are sort of clean and even the PM understands that level of the politic and wanted to make his own use of it..   I have also posted that the tape is a disgusting piece of work, and more then once.

NACC member's former house attacked

Security tightened for NACC members

By The Nation

Security tightened for NACC members

National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) president Panthep Klanarongran requested additional police protection for NACC commissioners and more frequent police patrols at their houses after the grenade exploded at Vicha Mahakun's old home in Bang Phlat district.

The incident happened around 3.30am and caused some damage to the property, which Vicha had sold to a university lecturer in July. There were no injuries as the house was under renovation and nobody was living inside at the time of explosion. Window panes of a nearby house were shattered.

Security measures were also tightened at the NACC office building yesterday. Vehicles entering the premises were searched for bombs.

Reacting to the incident, Vicha said that he was not discouraged by the incident as he had received several threats while working in the NACC.

He said his neighbours gave him warnings after suspicious strangers were spotted near the house many times recently. "I am thankful to my neighbours. In fact I sold that house in July and it is now being renovated," he said.

Vicha declined to speculate whether the attack had something to do with the NACC's recent decision to indict former government leaders and senior police officers involved in the October 7 police crackdown on protesters last year.

"That should be the duty of officials responsible for investigation," he said.

Other NACC members vowed that threats would not sway their judgement in future cases.

Somlak Judkrabuanphol said she was "startled" by the bomb explosion at Vicha's former home and that NACC president Panthep had told all the agency's members to be more cautious about their safety.

"I have not received any threat and I have no worry about such a threat. The incident won't affect the NACC's work in future cases. We will continue to adhere to the laws and regulations and make decisions in a just manner," she said.

Jaided Pornchaiya, another NACC member, said he had never received any threat and he would not request for more police protection.

In a related development, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said that after the explosion, he had ordered police to provide more security at residences of important figures, such as members of independent organisations and the Privy Council.

He said initial police investigation found that the grenade was thrown from a passing pickup truck.

Why are the Reds being mentioned on this thread as having a link to the case?

The article does state "Among them were the police's crackdown on the yellow shirted protesters in which a protester was killed and many others injured on October 7 last year and the golf course Alphine case."

If the reds wanted to wack someone, they would most likely get the job done. As much as some of them drag their knuckles, they do know how to kill. I think the colour of the day on this one might be brown or a jaundiced looking Bangkokian off-white. :)
