March 18, 200521 yr Krabi International Airport Krabi was one of the provinces hard hit by the December 26 tsunami, but signs are good that it will continue to build on its popularity. In response to the rising demand of travellers who want to explore this jewel of a province, the Airport Authority has decided to upgrade Krabi airport to international status. As planned, the Krabi airport will add "international" to its name and operations in October. By then, the airport will cover 3,000sq.m and be able to handle charter flights that come directly from overseas destinations. Foreign passengers can have their visas checked, and Thais can have their passports stamped by immigration officers stationed at the airport. --Bangkok Post 2005-03-17
