In July of this year I intend to bring some of my family to LOS, this will probably be four adults and six kids.I have never been to Pattaya and reading some of the Pattaya related post on TV doesn't make for great PR, however having spoken to people who have visited Pattaya they tell me It's great place.

Is it the place to come with kids? OK  people tell me what a great little place you have there.

I often see Two parents pushing an infant around Thailand. They are very unhappy to say the least.

BE WARNED:

THAILAND is not a family place!! THAILAND is one of the WORST places to bring kids.

PATTAYA IS THE WORST PLACE FOR A FAMILY VACATION.

Jeez Larry, you really should come down and see for yourself sometime. It ain't that bad :o

Yup, its a good laugh for a bunch of guys on a lads holiday.. Or for guys with a Thai wife / family who are cultured to pattayas goings on.. As the OP said, he doesnt have a clue, to recommed it as a holliday of a lifetime destination is just irresponsible.

When my sister was over here I went down there for the weekend with her and her boyfriend, he loved it, she hated it. While my mother was here I didnt dream about mentioning it, let alone taking her there.

I was in pattaya when the tsunami hit, and it seemed 1000's were being redirected there from phuket etc.. The amount of familys walking around @ day and night with looks of disgust on their faces (mainly womens) was comedy. Cant say they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Of course, the old man comes over here with one thought in mind :D

How about obscene? What could possibly be more obscene than a cow farang topless on the beach? Huge globs of fat hanging to her waist! :o

Oh wait! I know. The obese old men in their bikini BanLon swimming suits. :D

Trim and fit Thai ladies swimming in their shorts and "T" shirts seems like such a waste. :D

USA was created by religious prudes who couldn't take all the free sex going on in Europe around 200 years ago. This still reflects most american's mindset today.

It's ok to let everyone have guns so they can go and kill a lot of innocent children as happened in Minnesota the other day, but GOD FORBID THE KIDS SEE A TIT they might never survive the trauma :o

hi all It is my opinion that pattaya is not a destination for families,as far as the "entertainments" go they are not realy for children the beach is not very clean neither is the sea,the hotels for the most part(there are some exceptions)are full of single men.If they clear out 75% of the adult "entertainment"it would still be a poor venue for kids,if they are very young you might get away with it as very young kids dont need a lot only somewhere to play, but older kids(9+)need constant distraction and pattaya does not have that

I stay in Pattaya quite often. As a family vacation only a complete ass would recommend Pattaya.

Your other comments make no sense.

The sad truth is that I would never subject ANY members of my family to Pattaya, especially children.

I'll be bringing my 68 year old mother to Pattaya in a couple of months time... her first trip to Thailand... actually her first trip overseas...

It should be an eye-opener for her!

Having said that, unless she specifically requests to see the "naughty areas", we won't be going anywhere near them. I doubt very much if she'd be at all interested anyway.

There are enough places to go in and around the Pattaya area without being exposed to the sex tourists and BG scene.

There is no place in Pattaya, though, where you can avoid running into sex tourists and their young Thai girls and boys. It is not a pretty sight.

Wait until after Songkran PvtDick... high season will be over then and the majority of these types of tourists will have gone home... thank Buddha. :o

No, it is the truth. I did not say that ALL expats in Pattaya are the dregs of society, I said that MANY of the types I'm referring to live there year-round. I have been to Pattaya during every month of the year, and have encountered scenes that have made me want to gouge my eyes out every time. There is no time of year a family is safe from ugliness in Pattaya. It is not an appropriate family destination, in my estimation.

Yeah, so what?

Most parents try to shield their children from as much ugliness as possible -- especially when they're on vacation and trying to have a nice time. That is why many choose to go to family-oriented resorts -- which Pattaya is definitely not.

You have the right to raise your kids as you wish. Drag them to pussy-smoke-cigarette for all I care.

Unfortunately, a lot of the types I'm thinking of live there year-round...

That wouldn't happen to be a sweeping generalisation would it PvtDick? :o

Sure, its a generalisation!

In my view, the overwhelming majority of Farang in Patty are very decent people. Its the much smaller minority of scum who are visibly loud.

But don't most of the "good people" who go to Pattaya go at least partly to watch all these other characters who are cutting loose and going wild? You don't have to be part of the debauchery to derive some enjoyment from it. :o

Your country built disneyland & invented summer camps to shield from such ugliness. Christ do you still have to be 21 to get in a bar ? The only reason American kids got to see Thailand was when Mc Donalds & Kentucky's opened up.

Sure; I get plenty of entertainment from it when I'm in Pattaya alone or with mates. It would not be so much fun if I had my Mom or children with me. There are much better places for them than to drag them through the cesspool.

And Brits flock to Disneyworld like there's no tomorrow. And I see just as many British blokes lining up at Mickey D's in Thailand as Americans (more, perhaps).

Don't get me started on the UK...it's more puritannical than the US is (is hardcore porn still prohibited there? and are pubs still shut tighter than a duck's ass at some ungodly early hour?).

Anyway, when it comes to kids, only the parents can decide what they want to expose them to. They have all of their adult years to subject themselves to the ugliness the world has on offer.

I agree...Hua Hin/Cha-aam in my opinion is a much better option :D

Leave Pattaya alone :o

What's wrong with having morals -- as long as you do not try to foist them on someone else? I don't see anyone here suggesting that Pattaya be burned to the ground, only suggesting that there might be better places for a family holiday.
