South islands - late january hotels

I've read in the Lonely Planet, that rooms amy be hard to get in January.... I'll be looking for $30 per day or so.

1. Should I book in advance?

2. Will finding a room without reservation be a problem?

3. Would I be able to get the same rate at the counter as I can from the internet?  ( Probably NOT!!  )

4. Any tips appreciated..

It is advisable to book.

For the rate you are looking at, I can think of one hotel.

It’s name is “Atlas Dive Resort”. Located in Rawai Beach Phuket.

It has bungalows for this price range. Obviously you can not expect 5 star standards.

It also has a good swimming pool, very professional diving team and Sauna/Massage etc.

European Guy runs it.

If you are interested, you can PM me, so I can send you the Telephone Number to contact them.

Good Luck..

Talking of Phuket.. Vichit Bungalows on the road between Rawai and Chalong has great bungalows with air. Good setting too, looking out over the sea. Very quiet. I stayed 1 month there, very happy with it. Fits well within your budget and you get a free breakfast every day too.
