Hi,

my house is fed by a water well into a holding tank, from there it runs through a stage of filters then into an electrical pump with a pressure vessel.

My issue is the pressure of the water and how it fluctuates so much. ( pressue comes in waves )

I've spoken to the builder who has had his people come take a look fiddle with a few wires open and close a valve a few times then leave but the problem’s still not resolved

We went to HP to see if we could find something with a bigger pressure vessel but left empty handed.

My builder told me the one I have is working as it should, .

any advice or plumbers names would be great..

Thanks

Boltd, to buy good pumps , forget HP. We have grundforce pumps, they have the air tank. Just make sure no one fiddled with it & let air out if you have the same pump & check how many bars are being used.

Secondly make sure all your in line filters are clean.

I initially used Samui Water Tech, the only prob I had, they supplied wrong filtration system for my needs, but happy with pump installation.Have them come & check the system & let us know BEFORE you spend any money.

The pump should be turning on and off controlled by a pressure switch that cuts the power when the upper setting is reached and starts the pump when the lower setting is reached. This looks like a set of electrical contact points that have a bellows assembly moving the points. The bellows assembly should have a small water tube from the discharge side of the pump to the bellows. This line could be clogged with debris causing the problem. Also, the bellows assembly could be stuck or jammed by debris/corrosion. Spray with WD40 or a similar product. and see if that helps. If this is okay, the range of the pressure switch is usually adjustable by turning a screw to move the contacts closer to each other. Oh, by the way, turn the power off before checking these things. Maybe I should have told you that first.

Yes, it sounds very much as if the gas (air) pressure is gone, thereby failing to dampen the pressure waves. In the past I came across strange situations. In one the valve to the pressure vessel was closed, and in another the PV had been installed with a flexible hose which had a huge kink in it.

Both systems had been checked by a number of plumbers who failed to notice these fairly simple faults.

It is normally a relatively simple job to repressurise the gas (air) in the PV as they can be pumped using hand or footpumps that are suitable for car tyres.

Rather than getting a bigger PV, you can add another one the same size, on a T connection.

The PV should have a identificationn plate on it with the pressure stated on it. if you have a car tyre pressure guage then pop it on the valve, see what your pressure, is and then pump it up accordingly

Hi,

I have the same phenomenon, and it is recurrent ...

As I do not trust too much the "technicians" here, I fetched the manual for the pump and found this

(see attachment)

I do as stated (*), I empty the pump internal reservoir (switch off, close water input, water output) and then

reswitch on everything once a month approximatively (1 or 2).

This solves my problem !

Good luck

* : the pumps cuts off too often

Pressure problems are NO more.

On the advice of a couple of TV members I tackled the problem myself and it worked.

I removed the cover on the PV to the electrical connections and found two set screws, On setting these to the limits given on the English Instructions which were stuck inside the cover the system is now working great.

The problem the 3 plumbers must have had was not being able to understand the English instructions so all is forgiven

It pays to ask TV,

Thanks for all the advice and PM’s
