1. A re-entry permit is only valid for return when your extension of stay is valid - it has the same date. Have you looked at it? And an extension of stay is not a visa. So probably best you also check that and advise what exactly you have - not to be pandemic but because we really need to know exactly to provide accurate information. We are just guessing otherwise.

2. My guess is that your extension ends late December and you plan a return earlier and then apply for a new extension of stay; but only one re-entry permit and now have two trips? So use current re-entry in October and buy another to use in December. You can buy either single (1,000 baht) or multi (3,800) but all you want is single as it will end at the end of your present extension of stay. If you plan travel next year you may want to buy another as soon as your new extension is stamped into your passport to avoid any last minute emergency.

It sounds as if you are on extension of stay (not a visa) as you say you already have a single re-entry permit. A re-entry permit is valid for the duration of your permission to stay. You can use the single re-entry permit you have now for your trip in October and then obtain another single one for your trip in December. You can apply for single or multi re-entry permits at any time (1,000 baht single entry/3,800 baht multiple entry), but they have to be obtained from the immigration office covering the area where you live/report.

I have a question about the length of time a multiple re-entry permit is good.

It is my understanding that it is good until the end of the current extension.

If you live in Pattaya, and extend 90 days early, then buy a multiple re-entry permit, does that mean it will be good for almost 15 months?

Or 30 days early at some other office, making it good for 13 months?

Thanks

The permit itself will have a date on it - and that date will match your current permitted to stay until date. So yes; it could be more than a year in the future.
