New To Skype

Featured Replies

I'm going back to the UK for abit and want to use skype to keep

in contact with the wife and my son.

I have a dell laptop with with webcam and built in microphone for me in the UK.

So I want to purchase this for them to use here on the PC;

Logitech

I'm thinking is this all we will need to be able to speak and see each other once we are connected through Skype?

Headsets not needed?

Thanks for your advice

That is all you need yes, provided that you have speakers already.

Will the speakers built into the laptop and the ones built in to the

Asus LCD for the PC be ok?

Or do I need to buy plug-ins?

Thanks

No that's fine then.

You don't need anything for your laptop as you say, just one webcam with built-in mic for the desktop PC.

I would get a decent light headset with a boom mike as well.

I have the Logitech 9000 http://www.thanni.com/index.php?main_page=...5642ff983b0edf6 and it is the tops. Great microphone - you can be yards away and picture is very very good in high resolution.

Price here is high at Bt3k plus but seriously, think about it, the extra Bt2000 is worth it.

You might want to get some remote software where you can "do things" on the remote PC as most people not familiar with things cannot fix problems. I also find Thais just keep pressing and clicking buttons when something goes wrong rather than standing back and asking for help. They then don't know what they have done. I seriously and strongly suggest remote software.

The builtin speakers and mike will be adequate,

but even a cheap headset will improve the experience.
