I noticed some work going on to the signs at Pattaya Immigration Office over the last few days and this morning there was a big Buddha ceremony as a new sign was unveiled revealing its new name 'Chon Buri Immigration'. Anyone know if there is any great significance to this or if it is just an administrative detail?

Interesting.....the building in the photo on that site sure doesn't look like the Pattaya (now Chon Buri) Office I'm looking at. Just taken these two photo's, the second of which shows the Pattaya Immigration sign at the front of the site and the new Chon Buri sign on the building itself. Maybe the office in Chonburi has now closed ??

There definitely was a big do going on yesterday at the Jomtien office. Lots of Thai military oompah oompah marching music being played, it made me feel like invading Poland but instead I went out for some pad krapow.

Just noticed the 2nd sign lower down on the right hand side of the building saying Pattaya Immigration Office, so it sounds like an administrative tweak. Pattaya Immigration Office perhaps now coming under the control of Chon Buri area.....if they weren't already.

The Chonburi website sure ain't aimed towards Foreigners.

There are enough icons flashing at various speeds, twirling at various speeds, sequential display of numbers, and images fading in and out to induce a dissociative mental state.

You gotta love the graphic for their webboard, too: pic-webboard.gif:)
