Do I Need A Border Run?

Featured Replies

I came over on a one year non immigrant 'o' multiple entry visa , and did my first re-entry at the Cambodian border. But shortly after a Canadian friend ( I'm English) with the same visa said all I have to do is go to Thai Immigration in Bangkok. I kind of dismissed this as improbable.

Anyway, I put it to the back of my mind, but in 3 weeks time I'll need a new stamp.

So can I go to Laksi, or is it off to the border again?

Time to buy my friend a drink, or is he in for a ribbing?

On 12 month Non-O visa you will get 90 day permission to stay on each entry into the Kingdom whilst your visa is valid. You will have to do border run every 90 days. Maybe your friend came over on Non-O and then applied for extension of stay based on marriage/work etc? That would then just require 90 day address reporting rather than a border run.

Yes sadly that's what I thought, and indeed how I played it on the first run.

Yep. Border run needed.
