a few questions, first the details.

Our child was born in Canada, Canadian birth certificate, Canadian Passport. Mother and I are legally C/L in Canada. [We are planning marriage and SHE is planning to Apply to become a Canadian.]

Some months after the Birth, I found out our girl can get a Thai Birth Cerificate, which we got by sending the Canadian Birth Certificate, well outside of the 2 week period I read about on another thread.

The whole Thai BC, including mom's name, is in Thai script except for my name, the child's name, the Canadian Hospital's name.

Questions>>

Does her Canadian status trump everything when we visit Thailand, as compared to some Posters who are not considered the father? Is it possible and/or would there be advantage to getting a Thai ID card when we are over there in early 2010, she will be 5? Or should can we wait until she is older? Is she a Thai citizen by the birth certificate, or is more registration required?

You should now obtain a Thai passport for her. That is a simple process overseas. Her Canadian citizenship does not "bump" anything but if she enters using a Canadian passport she will be treated as Canadian. She has about a decade to go before she can obtain a Thai ID card as children do not have. But a requirement will be that she is on a Thai home register (Blue Book) so that process could be done if have family here.

Dual citizenship allows free travel/stay/work/rights in both countries so it is a good thing - especially for a girl; where there is no question of Military service being required.
